SOBs
We will have a few SOBs at the Shenandoah so Tweety won't feel left out.

Great! I added you to the list, which is at the bottom of page 2. We're up to 9 sites. This is getting to be a pretty big M&G

My SOBs dallied a bit too long and couldn't get a reservation. Penny and I will be at Harpers Ferry at the beginning of the week, then down the road to Shenandoah on Thursday.

VA Dept. of Forestry predicts top leaf peeping in central VA to be Oct 25-Nov 10 this year. Since we're in the north of that area, it should be good!

Hi
Hi to all attending the fall M&G at Shendandoah River State Park 2012
Pam mentioned a Pot Luck which sounds like a great idea to me, anyone else in for a pot luck say 6:00 or 6:30 PM saturday evening?

Sounds good to me (obviously LOL) How about 6:00 since it's starting to get dark early? Does the park have a pavilion in the campground? I guess we could just use someone's site, and a couple of easy ups if anyone has one.
If it's a yes....
Hope told me they'll bring baked beans.
I haven't decided yet.

I think we should consider the logistics.
1) the camp is full
2) specific sites cannot be reserved so we may be spread out over the entire camp
3) the camp is divided into two loops, one uphill from the other
4) there are no "buddy sites"
5) the nearest shelter is about a half-mile away in another area of the park
Here's what I'm looking at to refresh my memory: http://http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/s...ndoahriver.pdf
As my students used to put it, "I'm just sayin'."

All good points.
1) true the camp is full
2) the 2 loops are connected so the farthest walk really isn't very far
3) there's a hill?
4) I actually think there's one buddy site in the lower loop area but it's luck of the draw whether 2 of our campers would be able to get it, so that doesn't really help.
5) right
I'm thinking this would only work if someone volunteers to host the pot luck at their site, like we did at the Rocky Gap M&G. Unfortunately Pepper would totally freak out if 18 people and their dogs all showed up at our site So, I guess we're looking for a volunteer, or this is a no go.

I plan to be at the camp ground on Thursday so I'll try and get a central site. If the sites are big enough we will have the pot luck at my site. If it looks like an issue how about we have dinner earlier say at 4PM down at the picnic area. Lets hope it dosen't rain.
