Four hours to do a 7˝ hr. trip on a slow river? If my memory is correct, we used to figure 2˝ mph meant paddling pretty much the whole time unless the river was flowing fairly well. Float trips and fishing trips we experienced a real-world pace of 1 mph. On a week-long canoe trip, we hit a long stretch of flat water and paddled continually for 8 hours. We covered 18 miles.
I'm sure the outfitter knows the time it can be paddled. Make sure folks who sign on don't expect to just float, stop and swim, fish, etc.
Just my 2˘ worth,
Teach

OK Sunliners (and SOB's like Paul & I), I've been trying to come up w/a Pot Luck Dish that I can find the ingredients at the local IGA, since freezers in campers are small AND we'll be at the campground on Thurs evening Sept 1st (loving we get to be there before Labor Day and beyond. First EVER 11 days in a row!) So, I'm thinking Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Rice Casserole. And it should work for anyone gluten free (right?). So I guess, unless that doesn't sound good, you can put that on the list for Paul & I for the Saturday night Pot Luck.

Also, we have "safe" Jarts and Bean Bag toss if anyone wants a little fun competition during our stay. We're looking forward to renting a kayak at the Campground, like last year, for an easy, peaceful wandering of Nick's Lake. I'll get the details about how to just "grab & go" kayaks/canoes from the beach for those, like us, who don't have our own.
Finally, since we will be at Nick's Lake so early, I'll try to get some info packages together. If I see something that will spark a get together while we are there, I'll give a share on it. I KNOW I want to do the little duck thing on the Moose River (forget the name right now, but you buy a pretend duck, float it down the River & possibly win $100,000. YIKES!
Looking forward to hearing from my pally and Co-Chair Steve and Diana about the white elephant exchange. That is always a hoot, and so much fun.

Yum Sheri ! I'd do the usual baked beans with bacon as I think I will have time to put it together no matter what time we get back from kayak trip.

Also remember Mir's Venus de Milo soup and Terry's Swedish meatballs. So many wonderful foods. I'm salivating as I type. : )

I know I might be a "worry wart", but has anyone heard from Steve & Diana or Vic & Mir recently? Yeah, I get a lil too concerned, but only b/c I care. Would like to know all is fine with both couples. XXOO : )
