Hi Everyone,
I have to tell you, I don't know how I'd be getting thru all of this if it weren't for Gary and my friends. Gary has/is taking such wonderful care of me. He remembers my meds, my appointments, fixes food for me, but he won't let me have any CHOCOLATE !!!!!!!!! Somebody PLEASE mail me something chocolate
Thank you all for your well wishes. If I could move more oxygen thru my lungs all the time, then I cold do a lot more, but lack of air severely limits my mobility. Ha, I did manage to stand at the kitchen sink last night, wash a bowl, a plate and the crockpot. But, I knew I had to finish quick so I could get back to sit down.
Go for 3rd round of chemo on November 22nd, but this time I will have my refill for some meds to help keep me from feeling yuck and to be able to sleep.
Doc does not know as of yet, how many treatments I will have to have depends on how the cancer responds.
One side effect of the chemo is how sensitive it makes my hands, throat and feet to the cold. Just getting something out of the fridge really makes my fingers hurt, like frostbite. So, I have gloves real handy all the time.
OH, the other side effect is that I am going stir crazy not being able to do much. I think I've seen eery re-run and movie on TV about a dozen times.
It was a wonderful break to get out last weekend in Sunny, even though I had to stay inside most of the time to keep my hands from hurting. The ride thru the park, a tour of the Visitors center was very nice, but it wore me out for the day.
OK, that's about all from me for now,
Kitty

Chocolate is one of many things that can upset the digestive tract. Some authorities suggest hot chocolate between meals to get fluids.

It's actually not the chocolate, that is the problem. The problem, is the sugar. Cancer feeds on sugar and the sugar, that starches are converted to. By eliminating the sugar in Kitty's diet, we are trying to starve the cancer.
Her doctor doesn't think we can get rid of Kitty's cancer. All he knows to do, is shrink it. I firmly believe that the cancer CAN and WILL be totally eradicated and refuse to accept that it is permanent.

Kitty... your definitely stronger than me when it comes to chocolate! Although I would rather give up chocolate than give up my coffee!
Gary... How about the no sugar chocolates? Not saying to eat it every day...but a small piece every now and then.
Recent research indicates that dark chocolate’s chemicals, which carry as antioxidants, have been shown to play a role in lowering cancer risks by helping to combat cell damage that can lead to tumor growth. These antioxidants occur naturally in the plant based cacao bean, the base of all chocolate products. Cacao beans are in fact, one of the most concentrated natural sources of antioxidants that exist. (Dark chocolate contains around 8 times the number of antioxidants found in strawberries.)
Just a thought.

HAHA, I'm still here. Ya can't get rid of me that easy. Well, I was to have my 4th round of chemo on Dec. 13th, but the pre-chemo lab work showed that I had a low Platelet count so my chemo was postponed until Dec. 20th.
I finally felt good enuff to spend one afternoon calling about a zillion phone numbers, speaking to another zillion people, BUT SUCCESS, I was able to find out how to get my $600.00 chemo pills for a $50.00 co-pay. Why, WHY in the heck does it take so much effort to get info about insurance compny procedures. I must order my chemo pills thru a place called Cura Script, yep cant use any place CVS, WalMart, Rite-Aid, and that makes them cost me $50.00. What a huge relief.
I am slowly getting a little bit more of an appetite back, take a zillion meds & vitamins, drink lots of water.
I have actually drove the dually once, and now I am driving the '02 DIESEL VW Jetta (when I can pry Gary out of it). He bought this car for me while I was in the hospital back in October. He figured it would make it easier to find a parking space that was not out in the rear of parking lots like I use with the trucks. Well the car has been a night mare for him up until last monday. First after 3 days of ownership, a coolant leak, had to take it to forgein car repair place to have all those issues fixed, $$$$ OUCH !!!!, had it back about a week, lost reverse. So Gary ordered a 6 speed stick shift tranny from England (I think) and 2 weekends ago, Gary tackled that replacement job. WOW is this thing fun to drive, and I don't have to park out in left field with it.
My breathing is much improved, still can and do get a little winded while doing things in the house or walking around, but it's much better. Chemo still really wipes my out for about 1.5 - 2 weeks, but then I bounce back pretty quick. My hands, nose and feet are getting VERY sensative to the cold, but they told me that would happen.
Well, that pretty much brings ya up to date, but I might have forgotten to tell ya something.
Kitty

Kitty,
Glad to hear you're feeling better and are able to get the much-needed med's at an "easier-to-swallow" price.
Prayers are still being sent for your full recovery.

Meds
Kitty - don't know what meds you are on...but my Mom's cancer medicine only cost her $30.00 for a 3 month supply - she gets it through www.rxoutreach.org
Actually quite a few of her meds are on the list - she is saving herself quite a bit of money....might want to check it out.
