Wheel well repair

I'm in the process of replacing a wheel well liner on my 2499. I was lucky to find that the folks at make what looks like an almost exact replacement. I see that the original was glued and stapled to the raw particle board. I'm thinking about putting a coat of primer on before I re attach the new liner. Does any one have any input? I was thinking that I would get better adhesion that way.
