Meet and Greet: Suggestions for Campgrounds
OK, so after looking at the results of the polls, it appears that the M&G will be in the central PA region. If anyone has any suggestions for a park Please post here, as I am not familiar with the area.
Also: I am worried about finding a place for the weekend of June 29-July 2 because that is the July 4th weekend. Some places I have spoken with are booked, or very close to it.
So I am opening a new poll.
Thanks!

In the Central PA area you may want to look at Bellefonte, PA. There's a couple of campgrounds by Bellefonte, - Fort Bellefonte Campground & Bellefonte / State College KOA .
I'll attempt to add links to their web sites:
Fort Bellefonte Web Site:
http://http://www.fortbellefonte.com/
Bellefonte / State College KOA web site:
http://www.koa.com/where/pa/38117/
This location looks to be accessible by good roads / expressways from all directions, I-80 from East & West; I-99 from the South, and 15 – 220 – I-80 from the North. It’s close to State College and Williamsport, PA so there may be other activities to do in the area as well.
I’m not really familiar with either campground or the area. We stayed at Fort Bellefonte overnight once, but only spent the night there. But for a week-end meet, the accessibility looks like it may make traveling to and from easier fo rmost people.
We don't have a preference on where or when. We'll try and make it where ever and when ever it’s scheduled.
Thanks for taking the initiative to organize a get together.
Hutch

I'd recommend staying away from the turnpike. We went through there last year on the way to the Sunline factory and tolls for 4 axles (MH-no tag, and Jeep in tow) was very, very expensive. After PA, we continued up to Connecticut and on our way back, we stuck to I-80.

Yes, thanks for taking the initiative to organize ! We run into problems with the last 2 dates because we have to move our college kid back to school on one of those. It'd be nice if he'd tell us which one, but as usual with college kids things like summer job obligations aren't predictable at this point.

I'm not going to cast a vote at this time, as my current plans are to leave WV July 10th headed southwest with an approximate return date of August 21. "IF" my plans change and it's possible to attend I will do so. Guess time will tell.

I'd love to be able to meet some of you and Central Pa is right up my alley (I was born in Bellefonte). State parks with campgrounds would be Bald Eagle State Park with a large lake. Its roughly 8+/- miles East of I-80 and 15+/- miles N.E. of State College PA. Black Moshanon State Park is N.W. of Bellfonte; it's beautiful and secluded.
Unfortunately, the most popular time appears to be when I will be in North Carolina. I'll have to catch up another time.
Until I get to camp a little more, I'll live vicariously through this site.

First post here, hopefully, the first of many.
I live in Pittsburgh, and camp in the Central PA area quite a bit. You may also want to look at Parker Dam State Park.
We frequent the S.B. Elliot State Park because its first come first serve (no reservatons), limited electric and no shower house----so no crowds.
I think anytime in August would be OK for me and the better half. We pick up our new to us (2003) Solaris 2553 this Tuesday.....and I am VERY excited.
Count us in for anything you plan in the Central area!
Mark and Joni
