2021 New England Meet and Greet
IMPORTANT NOTE
Seems the rules are lessening. So, if vaccinated you are good to go.
When:
Monday, August 16- Monday, August 23
A few of us got together and had a very good time in Quechee VT. Not all were from New England, but generally from the Northeast !
We did this as an official Sunline M&G in the past, we are planning to do this again in August of next year. Monday, August 16 - Monday, August 23rd or any days in that timeframe that work for you.
Let's hope next year is better and we can have a good time and not worry about the virus. Details below. You can reserve now. Sites at Quechee are mostly large and easy access, even for larger RV's. - Thanks Sheri for finding the site below that lists the larger sites in all Vermont State Parks.
https://vtstateparks.com/assets/pdf/rvsites.pdf
Right now we have 5 sites reserved and Tom and I have a lean-to site which will work well (plus EZ up & tarps) if we get some rainy weather.

For pictures of the sites (thank you to the person who created this helpful site):

FYI for those wanting a full hook up, there is a KOA 3 miles down the road. If things are better next year, you could visit the State Park for campfires, etc. for a nominal charge. If not, we could all get together and picnic or kayak or just find a place to chat.

Sounds good. I can't confirm this early as a lot can happen between now and august 2021. But I do love camping in Vermont.

We would love to join. My wife and I are finally retiring next month and we plan on doing a lot of camping next year. I can't commit to those dates yet, because believe it or not we may already have a conflict a year out. Should know more the first of the year.

Congrats on retiring soon ! Hope you can join us ! Keep in mind there are other meet and greets too. Fish Creek ( Adirondack M&G) is always fun and it is a beautiful place. Some of this group are regulars there each September.

Just a reminder- lots of good sites left. We will do some planning for kayak trips, etc. when the time gets near. This campground is on the main route to Maine from the West ( Route 4, which goes by Pico and Killington ski areas ) so if you think you might head that way this summer, keep this M&G in mind !

Hi Rich, If you check out the links above in first post, these are some of the biggest VT State sites . Check out the 46 and 47 pictures carefully. They say to 35' and we've seen some big rigs in there. That being said, if you or anyone reading this post want a sure-fire solution, the KOA just down the road is, well, you know, a KOA with many sites for large rigs. Maybe a price to match LOL. If that is OK, then you could book and come spend time with us at the State Park. Literally maybe 3 miles down the road. KOA does fill up faster than the State Park though. You "may" have to pay a small price to get in Quechee for a day/evening, but the park has no lake attached to it and the staff may be kind enough to waive the fee for those wanting to come in for a visit/campfire since we have a pretty large group reserved. Anyway, it would be like a few dollars tops.

We're still on the fence if we'll attend. Waiting to see how things play out with COVID and everything.
However, if we do decide to attend, we'll be staying at the KOA.

Just wanted to say their are only a few full hookups left at Pine Valley KOA. Other sites with water/electric are available.
Some decent sites left at Quechee State Park ( no hookups).
Most of the attendees have been vaccinated and Vermont is lifting its restrictions for travelers. All good news !!
Hope by August life will be back to semi-normal !

Quechee group - AMAZING NEWS !!!! I have convinced celebrities Trish & Roger to join us for a couple of nights !! You may remember they are the stars of the book “Quite a Sightly Place” of which Del read a chapter, "A Hoe for Roger", at the campfire one night. We all peed our pants with laughter.
(note to self, pack Depends).
Rumor has it they are in negotiations for a major motion picture. Trish and Roger to star as themselves. Holdup is the cows, who are tough negotiators apparently (who knew?) and are holding out for more money and future royalties on the movie.
True to the book, Roger has made a camper out of a forage chopper, metal roofing and recycled aluminum cans all held together with bits of barbed wire. It’s really sharp. Literally. (note to self, pack Band Aids)
Looking forward to camping !
Deb

Hi Deb,
Thanks for posting the Vermont Covid rules. Each state is going to have different things needed in place. The Ohio M & G is in early October and the Covid rules keep changing too. We are supposed to hear something from our Governor soon on outdoor events and the new requirements.
John

These are some things to do in and around the area. Quechee State Park is basically next to the Gorge. The antique mall is across the road. The other things are close by. Walkable or a 5 minute drive or bike ride. We really didn't do much last year due to Covid, but I hope people will go to VINS or Simon Pearce. They are both very interesting.
Still some sites available. It's a small park and any site would be fine, but some sites are right next to our group's sites. 16 and 17 are great. We had one of those last year.

There are still some good sites left, but I was surprised how many have been snapped up since my last check. If you are on the fence about going, perhaps think about reserving soon !
Since my last post, our Governor has said as soon as Vermont gets to 80% of eligible people (age 12 and up) vaccinated, he is lifting all rules and opening up everything. We are in the 75 % range I think. We are down to very few cases, sometimes only 20 per day. Soon to be in single numbers since the younger kids are now eligible to be vaccinated. Very proud of our little state !!
