2016 New England Meet and Greet

Tossing this out there in case anyone wants to have a M&G this year. A couple of the New England members who've attended this small event in the past will likely not be able to attend this year due to health and travel plans. I do see some new faces on the board and thought there might be interest to continue with this M&G.

We found a dandy park on the Connecticut River. Wilgus State Park. Vermont State Parks - Wilgus State Park It is a small park, but there are some sites available to accommodate trailers available. Tom and I are reserved for July 28 - August 1 with a lean-to and large site. If anyone in the New England area (NY and all welcome of course!) has an interest please check it out. Wonderful views, slow kayaking, fishing, etc. It is very close to I- 91 and in Southern VT so easy for MA, CT and RI folks to get to.

As always, this would be a rather informal event. We could plan kayak trips and eating opportunities. Lots to see and do if anyone wants to sight-see, shop, etc. We would bring firewood and have tables, etc.

I probably won't be able to make this this year, however, I'm scheming a way to be able.
Time will tell.

Lynn, the good news is many sites would accommodate your 1550 so keep it in mind, even as summer approaches. Cabins there, too, which are very reasonable in price, if you don't feel like hauling the rig !

My GF and I might be up for this but I have a minor Surgery that will be scheduled shortly and I don't know if it will fall on or around then?? We LOVE VT!!

Would love that Steve and Diana ! Do keep in mind it is a very small park with limited number of sites for trailers so when you know for sure you might want to snag a site.

For those on the fence, Vermont has a very generous refund policy - you can switch to another date without a penalty. See below:

"If you cancel your reservation prior to 2:00 p.m. on the day before your expected arrival date, you are entitled to a refund of all fees except a $10 cancellation fee and your non-refundable $7 reservation fee paid, per site. If at the time of cancellation, you rebook for another date for the same number of nights in the current operating season, you won't lose the $7 reservation fee or the $10 cancellation fee."

Steve, We always get a lean to for wood and in case of rain to have group shelter for meals. We have Hawthorn lean to. And, it is a very small park so any site is "not far" from the area we are in. It is really about the size of our own loop at Nick's Lake.But right on the Connecticut River and truly beautiful !

Steve, #16 is a dandy site(if I remember correctly). You can click on the site number and see a picture of the site. Also, #1 is a pull through near us. I don't remember much about it.

I heard from JBNH and they have signed up as well. We may have some of our family members joining us (Tom's cousin is a hoot!), so it should be a fun group !

There are still a few sites available and some, despite the online listing saying they can only fit 20' trailers, can actually fit a larger rig. Do call the park if you want more info !
