Tornado Strikes Near Old Sunline Factory

An EF-1 Tornado struck about 9 miles SW of Denver last night. Lots of damage, fortunately only minor injuries.

I'm glad there were no severe injuries. That was a pretty nasty storm. Pepper & I had just gone out to Tweety to make up the bed in anticipation of the camping season. VERY suddenly the Tweety started rocking and being pelted by marble sized hail. NOW I understand how people end up being in trailers during tornados...they don't realize a storm is coming. Kinda scarey.

We were coming back from American Music Theater, "I wanted to hear some Jones." I can confirm that was one heck of a storm. Very brief but very strong.

Pam

Glad you came out OK.

Question, with hail that big did Tweety take any hits? Like the shower dome or the AC unit/fridge cover?

Or as bad if not worse, the aluminum siding?

Having seen what hail can do to a car hood, I can only imagine what it can do to a camper.

Oh and Pepper, is that one of your pet’s? Growing up we had an all black German Sheppard we named Pepper. Boy what a smart dog and protective of her masters kids. No on in the road messed with my Sister or me when Pepper was around. Even joking kids wrestling. She would be in there breaking it up.

We got hit here about 30-45 mins with harsh winds and sideways heavy pelting rain before the storm rolled east to Lancaster County where they had an F1 touch down. Probably the fastest storm I've ever witnessed living in the midstate. While tornadoes are not unheard of, they're concerned about how early in the season the 1st tornado has shown up here in PA.

While not a tornado, a tunneling straight wind rolled through York County last night above 80mph.

Lots of pictures on tonight's news of the devastation. I'm very thankful no one was hurt and amazed all in the same after seeing the damages and hearing a few stories. I had to ponder a bit last night when the news reporter on the scene described it as 'brussel sprout sized hail'... that's a new one for me.

Happy to hear no one's Sunline fell into harm's way yesterday!
Take care,
Lode

It took Mr Tweety a whle to get up on the roof and take a look, but yes we have a crack in the Fantastic Fan cover. It has rained again and that crack doesn't seem to be leaking, but I believe it will be repaired anyway. Everything else on the roof looks fine. The front has a couple of dings that I hadn't noticed before. Most of Tweety is protected by being close to the side of our house. Our friends also have a cracked vent cover, so if anyone else lives in the area, better take a look at your roof vents.
Pepper is our Lhasa Apso. He's a pretty good guard dog...he THINKS he's as big as a german shepherd!

Hi Dan
You must have driven by when Steve was bicycling and I was out walking because one of us was outside all day. It was SO nice out! Feel free to stop any time. The Max Airs probably saved you because our friends who also park where you do have a cracked vent cover.
