Need help with Acadia trip
I need y’all’s help once again. In September, 2018, we plan to visit Acadia NP and need advice on a place to camp for 4 days. How we typically tour places like this is to spend the mornings and early evenings at our campsite and tour in the afternoons. We have bicycles. Also, one place many of us have camped in common is Nick’s Lake. (We loved it. We can use that as a benchmark.)
On-line reviews of the two NP CGs, Blackwoods and Seawall don’t sound encouraging, but we all know how subjective some of those reviews can be. If I haul my genny with us, I want a reasonably nice camp site. We had a wonderful spot at Smokemont CG in the Smokeys and we value staying in the park itself. Does anyone have experience with or knowledge of Blackwoods CG as to its suitability for a 30’ TT?
We decided the new NP CG at Schoodick Point (w/e hookups) may be too far from Bar Harbor, and we’d spend too much time each day going and coming (bus or ferry). Is this assumption true?
Of all the private CGs on the island, any recommendations? Any advice on ones to avoid? Price isn’t an object for this trip, but I ain’t paying for a pool I won’t use and cable TV I won’t watch just to be packed in cheek by jowl.
Once again, thanks in advance and I am waiting to read all the wonderful expertise that I’m sure is imminent.

I don't know where to start they are so many good places down east. Sept. can be really good it's a bit off season gets cold here early a lot of places up here close on the 15th. Have you considered the park it's self? I really don't think you can go wrong on any of the parks. Me I'm not fussy as long as it's quiet we live in the woods so noise is a big thing. If you want to visit the White Mountains you can stay with us we have 80 acres no noise!

We drove through Blackwoods when we were there in 2007 and it looked nice to me. I remember saying "we should stay here next time." The only odd thing was that you had to drive to the showers, and they were pay showers.
At that point we were staying at Hadley's Point Campground. They had some nice sites, but we were in the full hook up section which was very close. There was an area in a field that also wasn't attractive. But they have a wooded area with W/E that's pretty nice. Looks like area B on their map. The location was awesomely close to Acadia.

I'm especially interested in Blackwoods. A lot of the on line comments made me think maybe our 30' Rockwood would have a problem there. We loved camping in the park at Smokemont (Smokey Mtns. NP) and thought Blackwoods might be equally as rewarding.
Thanks for the heads up on the weather.

Hey Tweetys - long time, no see. What were y'all towing in 2007? Do you think we'll be OK in a 30 footer? I'd prefer to stay at Blackwoods if'n we'll fit. I was looking at Hadley's Point, too. Thanks for the info.

We had the Que so we weren't evaluating for a 30'er, and being 10 years ago I just don't remember. I don't recall it being particularly hilly, so I'd think whatever the reservation website says the site will accommodate would be right.
