Acadia in the Fall

We have been going to Acadia (Mount Desert Island, Maine) for several years in the Summer. This year we also made it for a Fall foliage visit. We arrived on Tuesday October 2 and leave on Tuesday October 9 when Bar Harbor Campground closes. We have seen every kind of weather New England can throw at you from warm and sunny to cold and rainy and lots of grey skies. Even though the foliage is not quite at peak yet, Acadia National Park is beautiful.

Here is a teaser picture from Beaver Dam Pond in the park.

Stick around till Tuesday evening they are calling for some snow showers! Acadia is one of my favorite spots. We were in the White Mt. yesterday and it's pretty much peak there poured buckets but that did not seem to deter the tourists. It's been gray here in Maine for quite awhile I'm starting to rust.Think we are heading out next weekend to Camden for the last fling of the season.

Beautiful! I haven't been to Acadia since summer of '99. Hope to make it back some day...

I know what you mean about rusting mainah, it rained again last night and there was so much wind in the afternoon I rolled up my awning!!! Today we had a few hours of sunshine so we went up Cadillac Mt. I think everyone on Mt Desert Island was there. There was a traffic jam getting to the top and the place was packed with tour busses. When we came back down there was a ranger blocking people going up saying there would be a half to one hour wait until they opened the road again.

Here is a picture from the Eagle Lake Rd entrance.
