Sure, you can paint it.

I painted my 2000 T2370 a few years back and it turned out good. Quite a bit of work to do properly.

Hi Larid,

The top front siding sheet (and almost all of your camper) has a Krystal Kote coating. It helps with scratches and dents. The siding was bought with that coating on it. There is no clear coat like on an auto finish, as Sunline provided. A prior owner may have put a clear coat on it.

And yes, that top sheet gets sun and wind-beaten, and the paint starts getting thinner and thinner. And yes, you can paint the siding. I did that top sheet, but the sheet was on the ground, lying flat on the bench during a restoration. Laying flat, I had very little running of the paint. Painting the camper intact will be like painting a car, etc. All very doable, just time-consuming.

Hope this helps

John

We just painted our 1990 T170 and it came out great. We used regular outdoor house paint and foam rollers. Hard work and time consuming but it was worth it.

Same problem with peeling outer layer on my 2007 2499. Makes it look like it wasn't cleaned even after a good scrubbing. I was thinking of using a white mettalic paint like what I've seen on Cadillac Escalades, Silverado and other GM products. That might simulate the glittery look of the original Krystal Kote. A top coat of clear would then be required. The main thing is getting the surface as clean as possible before painting and that would include getting the paint as far under the edge moldings as possible, maybe even removing them first. If the paint doesn't extend under a new application of sealer, it will peel at the edges eventually. The decal, if you still have it, is another story.
Best wishes,
Rich
