forget paint over rust how about paint over dirt.

So my 50+ year sunline just won't get clean. I've scrubbed and scrubbed, but it just is stained. the aluminum is so pitted, the dirt is there to stay. So what about using a $40 can of exterior grade paint and primer in one to paint it. Lets see.

Wow, jeslie48

The face lift does look a whole lot better.

This Sunline decal logo is one of the oldest I myself have seen.

Sunline stopped using that logo on the 1977 models by what I can find in our brochures. This points to yours is older then 1977.

Do you know what year/model your is?

If you do not, post pics of the 4 complete sides of the camper before you painted it, we may be able to back into it. Sunline Fan is the guru on the older campers, I'm still learning all the time.

Thanks for sharing

John

The logo is a re-production that I 3D printed a while back:

I was told that my unit originally was a 1968, but I'm pretty sure its not that old, Anyway, the old logo (its actually a raised relief plate,) I felt was more be-fitting the nostalgia look of this unit. I have made no attempt to keeping it original. In fact I've spent much more time making it 21st century compatible to being used.

My camper was painted already when I got it from the previous owner so I don't know what was the original paint scheme only that it was definitely NOT the White/ Blue trim. He also gutted the inside and made it a strictly 2 person camper with a queen bed and oak cabinetry all around and above the windows: no fold-down bunk beds I think he said were originally there. the actual camper on the outside is 78" wide and 10' 6" long.

It does look a lot cleaner!

I suspect your trailer to be a '75 or '76 12-1/2' MC, based on the RVIA plate you posted previously. Does your coupler have any faint numbers stamped into it on the left side? I think that would be the only way to know the exact year.

alas there are no numbers. I was told that the previous owner destroyed the original hitch "triangle frame" piece by forgetting to raise the jack completely and it was completely replaced.
