New to us......................1980 Sunspot!!
Roadtrip!!!!!!!!! Sue & I are leaving for Colorado Tuesday morning to pick up our new to us 1980 Sunspot. Sadly, Steve & Susan had to move and therefore must part with it. They took very good care of the little thing and Sue fell in love with it....................Plus, she can pull it behind her Jeep Patriot. We will post pictures as soon as we get back.
We are planning to have it at this year's M&G so if you have never seen one, here's your chance. We plan to restore it as close to original as possible. Luckily, it does not need much work as it is in very good shape for being a 28 year old TT. Wish us luck.......................Marshall & Sue

Oh yeah, we are keeping it..............Sue would kill me if I gave up her potty. I guess I like the comfort as well. We will use the Sunspot for trips where the bigger TT is just not easily accomplished...............like WV. Those roads are pretty skinny sometimes!! Take Care................Marshall

Thanks for the invite but I don't think we're going that far. We're heading for my family in the Cooperstown-Oneonta area. That's in Otsego Co. Are you familiar with that area? I believe it's the Catskills.

We are sitting here in Denver, CO. with a Sunspot hooked to our car. That little trailer is terrific. I love it already. We will post pictures as soon as we get back to PA with it. Wish us luck on the return...............Marshall & Sue

Marshall and Sue, safe travels back home
Was in Denver (high desert country) earlier this year for work heading up to Fort Collins. I bet the mountians must be starting to get white now.
Are you towing with the Ford? Curious on your fuel milage with that little fella behind it verses the bigger trailer.
John

We have the Jeep Patriot but we did keep record of gas usage coming out to compare to going back. I am also curious. The mountains are very white. Sue wants to go up to Eisenhower Tunnel tomorrow before we leave. I think we will park the Sunspot here and drive up as far as we can go...............there's a winter storm advisory out so I don't know if we will make it all the way. At least we can say we tried Take Care...........Marshall

I'm excited that the Sunspot is going to someone who will preserve it. Not to mention bringing it back to it's birthplace Enjoy your day in the Rockies. I haven't been there but Steve used to travel there for business and squeezed in some skiing and hiking, and says it's beautiful. Safe travels home. We're looking forward to those pictures!

Congratulations on your new-to-you Sunspot.
Your gas mileage shouldn't be affected too much; I know that mine only drops a couple of miles per gallon when I tow mine.

Congrats on your Sunspot! The repair shop I deal with has one on the back of his lot, as well as a couple of other '80's models in the 17'-19' range. I thought it was a neat little trailer and would like to see inside of it sometime. None are for sale though; so no excuse to ask to see inside them. Apparently they are just there for winter storage. Looking forward to seeing yours at the M/G!
Hope you had a safe trip home; take care!

Sorry everybody for the delay with the pictures. We had to put a new well in and we have hit a few snags in the process. It all works out in the end if you learn to accept some changes. Anyway..............to the pictures!!!!
This one is in Denver, the day we bought it.................
We woke to a surprise the next morning............
Monday morning, we pulled in late Sunday night and I didn't really feel like parking it so I just pulled it into the front yard..............
A couple shots of the Sunspot...............
The prior owners flipped the axles because they had to make room for a new gray water tank. They could not find one the same size. I hope to find the original size tank and flip the axels back................
I wish I had taken some inside pictures. Sue has been inside but I have not. The kitchen area is in excellent condition. I will add pictures of the inside as soon as the weather breaks................
I had to hook my tractor up to it this morning to get it out of the yard. I am taking it to Harrisburg to winter it in a heated garage so I can work on it thru the off season............................
Man, I can't wait for JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is one cool looking little camper. WOW!!
OK you have us now really curious on the inside and what the back folds into.
And I could not help but notice all that digging power you had in your yard. What that little Kubota won’t do what looks like a Case behind the house sure will….

Actually, the yellow tractor in the back is a new John Deere back-hoe and sadly.............it is not mine. It belongs to the guys putting in my new well. The Kubota is mine.................wonder if they would trade???

Now that looks like a fun little project. Question? Did replacing the well have anything to do with pulling onto the yard...LOL
Only asking because late one night while moving things out of our house right before we sold it, I pulled into the yard and clipped the well head. This allowed dirt to fall into the head and when they tested the water, they told us we had to have the well sanitized which held of the sale of the house
Yeah, it took some time before Cindy let me live that one down.
I'm also curious as to why you'd flip the axles back to their oringinal? Are you trying to restore it to new?
Just looking at it hooked up to the Jeep, it looks like its sitting perfectly level and if you lowered it, you'd have to get a drop hitch and have dragging problems on steep inclines?
Anyways, Nice little find there!
