Carefree of Colorado awning

My fiancé and I are working on fixing up our 1989 t1700 sunlike Saturn and we CANNOT, to save our lives, figure out how to open the awning. It is a carefree of Colorado awning and it seems to be manual. We can't seem to locate the strap or loop that many videos show either.

Can anyone help us out with this?

Do you have a picture? Carefree of Colorado has a couple different styles.

If it is the usual style, and the strap is missing (or rolled into the awning), you might have to unlatch the awning on the right side roller tube and hand unroll it by turning the tube clockwise. You might need one person on each side. Once it's rolled all the way down, you should be able to replace the loop strap in the tube. Or put a rope on each end of the roller tube and try to pull the awning open. That might be a safer bet than trying to hand turn the tube.

If you get that little latch pulled down on the right side top, and release any travel locks, you can usually just pull the arms out as long as there are two of you-one on each side of course-then see if the ribbon strap got rolled up in the awning..if its missing, most dealers stock them.
