Advancer Lite
Hello,
I'm trying to get some info on the Sunline Advancer Lite models. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm going tomorrow to look at a 00 model, 2 door. thanks.

Peggy,
The Advancer Lites were very unique coaches. I haven't seen many and I've never seen any in person. They were built to have a taper body design so they would tow better. I don't remember the exact width differences between the front and the rear, but it was quite a bit (like a foot or so).
Check the files page for brochures for the Advancer Lite.

I would suggest that either the moderator or administrator move this post to the TT forum.
Jon

Sunline Advancer
Thanks Jon,
I appreciate the feedback, I myself never even heard of them so I wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing.

Peggy,
I really can't say if they're good or bad, just not very common. They were only built for three model years. I think the only bad thing is if you were planning to redo the inside, this wouldn't be a good trailer to pick because nothing is square due to the taper body design. They must have been challenging to build, which is probably resulted in a higher price, which meant not as many sold.

Hi Peggy,
Welcome to the group.
I have been in a few Advancers. "IF" I remember correctly the trailers were 7'4" wide in the front tapering back to be 8"0" wide in the back. Once you enter the trailer, the width difference really is not all that noticable. The Advancers had the same appliances & fixtures as the regular Sunline trailers. The only real difference that I remember was less "fanciness", meaning the cushions weren't quite as "posh", the window valances were pretty plain, just those sort of differences. But, I'm sure the build quality was the same, after all they are Sunlines.
Make sure you look in every nook & cranny for "ANY" sign of leaking, including the outside storage areas, try to step on the floor everywhere you can to test for softness.
Good Luck, and please keep us posted on your results,
Kitty

Kitty,
Are you saying the Advancers were basically tapered body Saturns? Since they got rid of those in '99 and these came out in '00, it would make sense that replaced that part of their market. Wow, Sunline really didn't get the hint- the SunRay failed, the StarRay failed, the (later) Saturn failed, the Sole failed, and the S Series failed. I think they would have been a lot better off expanding the Solaris line with more models than to design coaches that wouldn't sell.

Jon,
I'm not positive that's why the Advancer was introduced, but you might be correct. There were a few floor plans the same as the Saturn. I just remember the window treatments, valance & curtains the same fabric and in the Solaris the valance is/was usually two types of fabric, and the cream color fabic with sort of a diamond pattern to it used for the curtains. Also, the Advancer had the rubber ryde suspension, which I believe kept it lower to the ground, reducing "drag". I was in an Advancer about 3 months ago, and it just reminded me of an entry level Solaris. All the same quality appliances and workmanship, just less trim details maybe a few less windows. All in all a good unit, just a little less "posh" I guess I'd have to say.

Kitty,
That's surprising. I wouldn't have thought they'd put the rubber on a lower end model. Sure, it'll help with wind drag, but I'm sure that aft end drags too, on the ground!

Hi Guys,
Sorry I have not been on lately due to a very busy work schedule and lots of travel. Pegs- I have the 2000 Advancer Lite. I cannot tell you a lot because we have just recently purchased it. Yes it is narrower in the front (I believe Kitty's dimentions were correct). It is in a permanent site in the Catskills, so I have never towed it. It is a great camper for two people. The front couch opens to a small and probably uncomfortable bed due to the center crease. I have the original booklet if you need information and will try to post photos on my website when I get a chance. If you need any additional information, please let me know..

Just so everyone not familiar with the Advancer Lite can get an idea, the L-25R is the Advancer Lite equivalent of the T-2453, or the mirror image of the T-2499.
Also, here's a link to the '00 Advancer Lite brochure:
http://www.sunlineclub.com/docs/00a.pdf
Jon
P.S. I just realized something this past weekend while reviewing the floorplans. The taper body Advancer Lite always carried the name of "Advancer Lite" from the introduction in the 2000 model year to when it was discontinued after the 2002 model year. The HC trailer (Advancer 20) just uses the name "Advancer" and is not tapered.
Also, one interesting thing I found is the L-25R (later re-named LS-25R in '01-'02) continued on as an available model for every year whereas the T-2453 was discontinued after the '01 model year.

advancer awning
Does anyone know the awning size of the Advancer 25 LR? I need to replace my fabric but I'm away and can't measure it until the end of next week. I think it's 16 feet but would like to order the correct size so it would be there when I return.
Thanks.

Dont order it until you measure your own.!!! The placement on your trailer can make the difference. Measure from the center of the arm to center of the other arm. Also, size can differ between manufacturers.
