Headboard removal - T-2753

Has anyone taken out the "headboard" in the bedroom? Upon quick inspection, it feels like it's secured from the outside in (like other components). Can anyone confirm this?

If you have successfully removed it, what method did you use.

Picture of the headboard attached for reference.

Thanks!

Hi Josh,

I might be able to help, but it will take me (maybe) until the end of August to confirm this. I "think" the front wall headboard was a 2007 model year thing. Or perhaps some very select 2006 models. All the 2006's I have had the front wall apart did not have the headboard, so looking at pics with them won't help.

I have a 2007 T2499 with the front bedroom, and it has a headboard. See here:

But, I have the entire front wall siding off this camper right now going through a water damage restoration process, and I can verify precisely how the headboard is screwed on. I "suspect" it has some screws from outside the wallboard screwed into the headboard. But I'm not sure.

All I have to do is pull the insulation away and have a look.

How soon do you need an answer? With some luck, I might be able to get an answer by mid-next week, but not sure if I can do that just yet. Or the end of August.

John

Thanks, Sir. We won't start our renovation until mid-Sept, so there's no immediate hurry for an answer.

I highly suspect it's outside-in like you mentioned. I tugged lightly on the outer edges and it felt like there were about 3 screws holding it in place in the middle.

I was able to visit JohnB's T2499 to get the answer to this. I was curious to find out as our 2006 T264SR has the same headboard configuration.

The headboard is attached from the inside with a finish nailer. It has a plywood backing on the luan which appears to be glued. After seeing the finish nails it does make sense as Sunline attaches the padded molding above the entry doors in the same way. They just shoot the finish nails though the fabric and there is no screw heads exposed. You should be able to pull the headboard from the inside, a trim removal tool or flat crowbar would be my suggestion to break it free if pulling doesn't do it.

The last image shows that the cabinets are screwed from the outside for reference.20230813_104416.jpg20230813_104706.jpg20230813_104740.jpg20230813_104820.jpg

UPDATE: While earlier today I thought the headboard was nailed, I may have been wrong. The finish nails may only hold the plywood on the back of the luan wall panel.

While getting our T264SR ready for an upcoming camping trip I noticed our headboard was loose, I could peer down the top and see the screws. The buttons in the design are snaps and underneath is a screw. I was not able to look at the T2499 closeup inside as the bedroom is filled with camper parts. It's possible they may still have finish nails, but check the buttons for screws.20230813_193221.jpg20230813_193213.jpg20230813_194011.jpg

Many thanks BenB! Yes, we just confirmed this week that the buttons do cover up screws. Appreciate the help!
