An extended van will definitely have more overhang to deal with on ascending angles. It might be fun to tow with it to get a comparison between the two vehicles. I knew that I needed more vehicle when I came around a curve once and suddenly there was a completely stopped wall of traffic in every lane. I had an E150 with the T2970 and it had taken everything I had to stop about three feet behind the vehicle in front of me. I have the E350 for its suspension, brakes, and it's large engine was about 1.6mpg better than the 5.4L I had in the 150.

Panic stops are hair-raising no matter what you're driving. Good to hear you managed it.

You've convinced me to give it a go just for comparison's sake if nothing else, though that probably won't happen this year. Just too much on my plate before nasty weather kicks in here. I'll report back if/when that happens.

Though in the end it won't make any difference if wifey is going along. No way she'll put up with a few hours in the work van.
