Speaking of Rubber roofs

I read on Woodalls forum that you should stay away from rubber roofs. Has anyone had a problem with their roof due to water leaks. I can understand snow load being an issue on any flat roof. I am just wondering what is done to maintain a rubber roof? Is there a sealer to put on from time to time? I can handle it I just want to know.

Rubber roofs are no problem. The snow loading capability is not a function of the roof material but the vehicle construction. What kind of cross members are under it? If you can stand on the roof, it'll take any snow loading short of a glacier. I've had three RVs with rubber roofs and two with fiberglass. I wouldn't worry about either. By the way, the rubber roof material manufacturer guarantees it for 12 years regardless of how maintained as long as you don't use petroleum-based cleaners on it. Still worried?

the biggest key to keeping a leak proof roof is keeping it maintained reguardless off what type of roof it is.If the seams crack open it.s gonna leak whether it's rubber, metal, fiberglass or whatever.my trailer has a rubber roof and twice a year I apply a uv protectant which also helps in keeping the roof from getting as dirty and stained which helps to keep the rest of the camper looking good.
