question about buttonwood campground
Thought some folks on here might know the answer to my question since the M&G is at bottonwood
For Memorial Day we had resv. for Appalachian campground in shartlesville Pa, but an article in our local paper makes this campground sound very questionable so we cancelled there and got resv. at buttonwood on the river side our sites our R91 and R92 but when calling for resv. we spoke with the son because his parents are away and he did not sound to sure if both our 28ft. campers would fit in these sites, anyone familiar with these sites will we be ok with our campers in these two sites.

We've been to Buttonwood 3 times and always ride our bicycles through the campground. From looking at the layout of that side, R91 R92 are sites that back up to the road, and I recall smaller trailers in that particular area. I'd call back to double check, or try to move to the other side of the road where the sites are all big.
I thought Appalachian was closed due to the sewer issues and buried battery finds.

thanks tweety I will give a call back and hopefully get ahold of the owners and make sure our sites will fit us.they had no available sites on the other side.
Appalachian was closed last year but had scheduled to reopen this year, but about two weeks ago the Reading Eagle had an article in the paper that said the campground had a hundred and some septic tanks in the ground that they could no longer use,so they had to hook up to public sewer, the campground is now owned by some big corp. and so far they have not made any attempts to do what needs to be done and it sounded like if they did not do what needed to be done they would not be reopening but yet they are still taking resv. and peoples money,so we thought it was best to get our money back while we still could, when I called them to cancel the lady on the phone asked why I was cancelling and I told her I live local to the campground and seen the arcticle in the paper and did not want to risk losing my money, she just chuckled and said ok, like it's a big joke.I did get my money back.

I also saw that article in the Eagle. Between septic and buried batteries I think you made a wise decision.

probably not a bad idea phil, things don't look to promising for that campground and if they do get stopped from reopening it may be tough to get your money back.

Hey everyone we have reservations there for mem day weekend also I did see the article also I call Encore Parks the owner of the campground and they said that they know nothing about it , then I called Robin Hill campground to see if I could book some site there and when I mentioned to the manager at Robin HIll she laughed and said that she knows the manager at Appalachin and that they will definitely be opening May 1st but I am very uneasy about this in the paper it said that they were fined 205,000 dollars that a pretty good chunk of change for a campground to be hit with and not know anything about it , Dan
