Que Photo Request

By any chance does anyone have pictures of the bed/couch without the cushions in place? I'm curious to see how Sunline handled the sliding assembly.

I've done a bunch of digging, and found a lot of pictures, but nothing without the cushions in place.

Anything you have is greatly appreciated!

I can't help you with that, but if they're anything like the older Sunlines with the sliding beds, they were just a luan panel over top of a 1x2 or 1x3 frame, and then a second subframe below that. The legs and decorative piece attached to the front edge strip on the loose panel. To put it into bed mode, one would just grab that fabric covered piece and pull out. The entire piece could come out if you wanted, but otherwise it would just slide below the cushions and you could put it out to where ever you wanted. Then just push the cushions down and it was all good. I seem to remember the luan panel sat flat on the other frame too, since the cushions never fell at all, so the frames must have been designed to intertwine. Hopefully they designed it a little better in the Que, because that never did seem very solid to me.

I'm doing this all from memory from about 5-6 years ago... Unfortunately, I looked through pics of both coaches I had with this design and only have pictures of the beds in the out position with the cushions on top.

I'm not familiar with the Que's couch bed but I am with the Sunline's Gaucho couch. The top layer of the bed is composed of two pieces of their standard 1/8th inch wall material. One piece is 2 feet wide and 6 feet 4 inches or so long. The other piece is 2 feet 3 inches wide and 6 feet 4 inches long.

The top layer of the bed is supported in three places, at the wall, in the center and at the edge furthest from the wall (the sliding portion).

The wall support consists of a 1 x3 x 6 feet 4 inches screwed to the wall.

The center support consists of a cabinet front made of wall material, 1 x 2s and cabinet doors allowing storage under the bed.

The sliding support consists of three legs, one at each edge and one in the center. These legs mount to the leading edge of the larger piece of wall material.

The 2 foot by 6 foot 4 inch piece of wall material was screwed to the top of the wall 1x3. The other end floated above the front piece of wall material.

A 1x2 is attached to the front of the wall's 1x3 creating a step for slats. Slats were nailed into the 1x2 that extend to the center cabinet front.

Similarly, but offset from the wall attached slats, 2 feet 3 inch x 6 feet 4 inch piece of wall material has slats that match it's width. When the front piece is pulled forward to form a bed the front piece's slats end up resting on the center support. The other end of these slats run to a cross member for the three sliding legs.

It seems flimsy but it seemed to work. In my rig when the bed was pulled forward, the front edge was against two cabinets at each end stiffening the whole structure.

At first the 1/8th inch material seemed a little thin but I will say it worked just fine. We always left the bed open and topped the cushions with a five inch matress pad.

The piece closes to the wall is screwed to a piece of 1x3 screwed to the wall

The QUE is a little different. It has metal drawer type sides that pull out. The wood bottom panels are integral to the cushions, NOT the part that pulls out.

One photo shows the slides only pulled out half way. Another shows them out all the way.

The 3 metal slides are ball bearing type that are very easy to slide...
