It's October

Good October Morning Sunline Owners

OK, where has everyone gotten too. Not a lot being posted on the messageboard I check in to read a bit of news, and there is none to be found.

Everyone must be either A: Camping or B: working

I'm headed to a small campground this coming weekend, about an hour away from home. A nothing special place, but it's camping

Well, need to go, got to get out to the bus

Kitty

Sorry we havent posted much lately, Cindy and I have been in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin and the connection signals are few and far between.

The fall colors are absolutely beautiful up there right now and are in full bloom!! We're now headed towards the Boundary Waters area for a few days and I promise to try and post some photos.

Hope everyone else is camping their little heads off and that's why the forum is slowed down. Fall is the best time to camp.

Pat

Doing a bit of both and then some here.

Lessee....

Took one of our grandsons to Sampson State Park for a day.

Worked 4 days last week (Wednesday thru Saturday)

Puttered on the trailer a bit.

Took a day trip to Ithaca, NY to see the gorges and Cornell University. Had a late lunch in Watkins Glen on the way back.

Today I am installing skid wheels on the trailer, cleaning out the summer stuff, and going over the fall checklist for the M&G in Old Forge this week. Today and tomorrow are my final get ready days.

Oh yeah, gotta do that cake for the M&G, too.

I am also hustling to get everything ready for my high school Homecoming - I'm treasurer of the Alumni Association, and we do a weekend long homecoming every fall - reception, luncheon, banquet, and more. I do all the registrations, money, hotel arrangements, etc.

Doing some serious leafpeeping out our windows right here at the house.

Yup, we're busy...

Sue and I are trying our hands at dry docking this weekend (first time with "lucky") We are going up to Bald Eagle State Forest. We did a recon with the car this past weekend (3 hours one way) just to make sure we could get the TT into the camp spot. Glad we did............the bridge was out, the roads are narrow (gravel and straight up) and google maps, although they are great in an urban environment, gave us 3 wrong directions once we got out of Harrisburg. So..........we found a "real" map and found a way around the bridge, and we are going to deal with the roads. I think it will be perfect. I'll post pictures when we review..........................wait, can you review a "camp SPOT" I'll review the state forest as they have 4 motorized camp spots scattered here and there. The best part..............they're free!!!! Take Care..........Marshall

Hit the nail on the head, doing a lot of working, about 60 hours a week. Well I guess I have to earn the money to pay for the trailer anyway. Going to try a new campground this Week-end, I'll give it a review next week. It'll be a change of pace from the norm. We belong to Outdoor World and don't get away from them very often.

Here in New York we're planning on the get to gether this weekend in Old Forge. The weather is unusually warm but generally this time of year we're playing a balancing game of last camping trip vs winterize before it's too late.

Well I left to visit Mom (in NJ) on the 22nd - and then to oldest daughters home (9/27) for a pig roast. Leo drove down w/TT to daughters on Thursday and we "camped" for 5 days & spoiled the grandsons rotten.....home to work for a few days than to Nick's Lake for the M&G!

After Nick's Lake we will be preparing the TT for indoor winter storage....hopefully it will be put away for the winter by the 27th of October, hey by then we may have snow!!!!

See ya this weekend!

We are going next weekend for a few days for what looks to be the last time this year.
Then the sad part, getting my Sunline ready for winter and knowing it will be waiting till Spring.

We haven't been camping since 9/22 DH had a business trip out to California, so I took off to Charlottesville, Va to see DD. I always think of Kitty when I drive through WVa because I always seem to be behind a school bus ! The 19th we're off for a local weekend at French Creek State Park. Our tradition (well this is only the second year, but we intend to make it annual) is to close out the camping season the first weekend in Nov. in Lancaster with our friends from Maryland. With this weather though who knows...maybe we'll camp into December this year!

Its hard to "put away" the trailer.

This year was harder for me for two reasons:
1) Its my first year putting away a Sunline
2) I had to do it do early, about two weeks ago, because my job is taking me out of the country for 5-6 months, without my family.

Although I will be able to come back about three times, its still pretty sad. And for those of you who travel extensively, I don't have to tell you know matter how exotic the location (I am in Paris), it eventually gets old/tiring, and you wish you were home.

On my flight from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, I was able to see some places where I camp (from the sky), and I really wished I was there. I think I will at least rent a cabin somewhere when I get back just to "return" to nature.

So please go out and camp for me .

Overseas travel...yuck. It does sound exciting, but you're right it gets old after about 2 weeks. I'm sorry you have to go. The bright side is that you'll miss winter in Pittsburgh, which according to my sister who lived there is miserable. And you'll get back just in time for camping season 2008

We are going next weekend to Mark Twain Lake, about 2 hours NE of here. The kids and grandkids are going to join us. I will drive the TT rig and Jan will haul the boat with her explorer.

The weekend of Nov 1 my brothers from Pittsburgh are coming out and we will do a long weekend at Truman Lake, about 2 hours SW.

After that, I will winterize and wait until spring.

We haven't planned it yet, but I'm thinking real serious about a two to three week trip to New England. Haven't been there in years and would like to visit the Submarine base and museum in Groton, Conn. Spent a lot of time in and out of there in the 60s.

Poor Man Campin'
This is the first I could check in for a while. The M/G was my last outing . The short story: DW has been in the hospital on bed rest the last 4 wks, and today starts wk 5. I've been racking up the miles, round trip to Gettysburg, Harrisburg, and Chambersburg; but w/o the camper. It's now out of inspection and dirty due to the farmer next door harvesting his corn, and it'll be another week or two before I can think about cleaning it.

My parents moved in to keep an eye on things and our DD, but I can't ask Dad to clean it up for me since he didn't get to use it. They're busy enough anyhow.

The good news is the nurses have enjoyed DW's camping scrapbook, and DW is looking forward to camping next spring, even with 2 infants!

That's my life for now! Safe travels and happy camping to all!

Both work and camping for us too. At work have been extremely busy with audit and new semester start up. For a R&R after that we took the camper out for one last week in Rhode Island. Narragansett Bay, one of my favorite places, will do a work-up in the camp site link.

Sadly we have to start thinking of winterizing as the rest of the fall schedule is filled up.

PoorMan, Hope you wife gets home soon so you can be busy at home without all that commuting. Can't wait to see your newly increased family at the M&G.

Kitty, I am sure as the days get shorter and the nights get cooler, we will all be posting and redirecting our thoughts from the saga of Sunline to the preservation of our coaches and to the social M&G's.

Regards to all,
MM

Just got back from the Fall M&G in Old Forge,

On more trip planned to our DD College Family Week-End. We had hoped to try and get one more week-end in after that, but like MM conflicts preclude it and so it'll be time to winterize

It's been a great camping season and the Sunline M&Gs really made the season memorable. Meeting and making so many new camping buddies was fantastic. Can't wait for next season.

Brad, Our thoughts and prays are with you, Amy, the twins, & Shelby. Hope Amy and the twins are home soon; healthy and vibrant.

October Camping

DW and I are off to Watkins Glen, NY this week for a Thursday thru Sunday get-away. We plan to do some leaf peeping, visit a few wineries, walk the Glen and enjoy Fall. It's supposed to be cooler. We're also hoping to make one more get-away the first weekend of November to Yogi at Shangri-La, just across the river from Lewisburg, PA. We visit there often. It's a nice park - kind of a "home away from home" for us. Maybe we'll see you on the road or in a park. Enjoy camping as long as you can.

After a short (but most enjoyable) Williamsburg, VA jaunt 3 weeks ago, we resolved we HAD to get in at least one more trip before we winterized. Household projects be %&$%@&^$#!!! , tomorrow AM we're heading for Luray, VA for 3days.

Hey Frank & Sharon,

I don't know what time you'll be coming thru WV on I-81, but if it's around 9am, maybe you could get off at exit 5 and pull into a store and I could run over and meet you and see your Que? I am only about 10-15 minutes from exit 5, 8, 12 or 13. You can give me a call "IF" you want (304)671-3193.

We are headed to Harpers Ferry, WV on 19-21 Oct. and then to Old Mill Stream in Lancaster, PA on 2-4 and 16-18 November. That'll probably be it until after Christmas.

It only takes a little over a gallon of antifreeze to winterize after blowing out the lines with the air line connection, so if we get a decent weekend after Christmas and can find an open campground........... of course, those tank heaters do make that a lot more workable
