Dometic Refrgerator
We just got our "new to us" 1981 sun line today. Where or where is the plug for the fridge? I am not sure if the electric is working for the fridge or not? Everything else seems to be working. It's a balmy 37* here , so feeling inside is not helping. Got a great deal on this beauty. 1800 and in excellent shape. No size for the fridge in the paperwork, either. I know, I'm a dumb blonde.

Hi ...the rv ac/propane fridge doesn't operate like a home fridge insofar as it has no motor,so you will not hear it operating. It does have a cord which is plugged into an outlet located in the outside fridge compartment...leave it plugged in.
It takes quite awhile for it to cool down..it first cools the freezer which in turn cools the fridge. A large container of water in the lower (fridge) compartment will help jumpstart the cooling process, which in some units can take up to several hours. Now,with it being so cold outside, your refrigerator probably won't cool unless the inside of the camper is quite a bit warmer than that outside temp you quoted as it won't really have a need to get colder because its thermostat will already be satisfied. As for the size,it will depend on which camper model you have..hope this helps! Don't be afraid to ask questions..we have all been "new" at one time.!!
Now,go to the top of this page, click on Files, select Brochures (choose 1981),and download your brochure which will give you lots of info on your unit..Good luck with your "new" Sunny! Janalee

Locate the model number of your fridge on a label either on the fridge door frame or inside the food compartment and post it here...it tells the size of your fridge.

Thanks, I know the model and serial number, my question is WHERE does it plug in, behind the fridge or below behind the heater? I don't want to remove the fridge to find an easier answer. Thanks for your Input, tho. It is way too cold here today to check. Will do it tomorrow, when the weather is better. I know it isn't the same as a home fridge, we had a big Georgie boy, before.

Hi,
Look outside the camper for a vent grill on the side of the camper right where the fridge is inside. That panel is removable, inside there is the plug for the fridge assuming it is still an RV fridge that used 120 VAC. The LP gas line should be in there too.
Yours may be old enough it may not have the 120 VAC option. It may be a LP gas fridge only.
If you get stuck and need help, post the model, brand and serial number of the fridge and we can look it up and give better help. Right now this is generic help as we do not know if what you have is original and we are not all versed on the really old ones unless someone happens to have one just like yours.
Good luck, congrats on your camper and welcome to the Sunline Family.
John

Maybe your explanation will be better understood John..we both said the same thing----I think!! but differently!? Anyway, I had an '81 1350,and if I remember correctly, the outlet and cord were where I said...in the compartment outside..maybe you offered a better description. That being said,I don't remember how many cubic feet it was..but in my defense,I just turned 73 last month and that TT is just a fond "first Sunny memory" !! Janalee
