cargo storage compartment keys

My grandson lost the keys to my 1983 T-1550 and I'm looking for the most common or most likely key numbers for this time period.

Thanks for any leads.

bunjin/Lynn

I don't believe there are more than 5 an RV dealer should have them to try.

Try ch751. That is the most common. I think you can even buy them at Home Depot.

The ch751 key is the best one to start with. I have three others on my key chain from work and all the other numbers were from Coleman Pop Up campers.

I used to think there was a common key before the 751 came around, but I now believe that's not the case. The key from my '86 does not work in my '79, which is missing a key. Luckily the back of the storage doors are usually pretty easy to access. Unscrew the lock finger with a screwdriver, go out and open the door, and then you can remove the nut holding the whole lock on. Simply replace the entire lock or take it to a locksmith who can make a key. It will probably be cheaper to replace the lock.

Thanks for the answers.

Going to a dealer and trying keys was my original thought also.

Going to Home Depot with the ch751 number is a very easy option for me.

Replacing the whole lock is another option I though of also. I believe I once opened the door with a screw driver forcing the whole lock to turn. Yes Jon, once having access to the nut it's easy to replace. one storage door I have access to from under the lounge whereas the other I don't believe I do. The trailer just come back tonight after being out of state for over a month and a haft. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone.
