Yes, now I know how to rebuild doors Jim. That was kinda fun. Actually, destruction can be fun too, so I'm kinda looking forward to removing that #^&%$@ door knob.

Re-wired, all new lights
I stripped all the old wiring out, installed all new lights. Only problem I had was a dead wire running from the front left marker light to the right. I ran new wire inside for now, and have everything working exactly as it should be.
We're off today for Fish Creek Pond Campground for the Spring Tearup the Adirondacks meet. Right now all I've done is twist and tape wires at the 4 wire coming into the back. I'll bring along my electrical stuff and wire everything to a junction block while there.
Now I'm trying to figure out where to mount the license plate and how to light it. Hmmmmm.

Chased threads on the spring u-bolts this a.m. and installed new steel lock nuts. Of the 8 nuts on the 4 u-bolts, only one was a lock nut. You can see the new spring seats I welded on here too when I moved the springs under the axle.
Just ordered a new light. Didn't realize you could get an RV light with license plate light and bracket. Trying to figure out how to mount the plate this morning, went to google, have one ordered. $5.75 for the light, $5 for shipping! Now I have to go mount the light temporarily.

Tearup the Adirondacks, this past weekend
Had a great time out for the 1st time with our new-to-us Sunspot. Had a chance to visit some with Steve Collins, got lots of great ideas and advice from him! Sunspot did not leak one drop through a sometimes torrential downpour weekend. We sure enjoyed ourselves. Here's out camping setup...

Spot now has a key for all three openings, and the two doors (entry and buckboard) open with the same key. The buckboard door knob was not easy to get off, but with the help of a hacksaw and 4 1/2" angle grinder (with a cut-off wheel), it came off easily. The new one mounts normally, with easy-to-see screws on the inside.
Also while at Tearup the ADKs this past weekend, I installed a junction box to work off for my wiring. I've got to clean this up a bit, but more to come.
Have a great day all!

I went in to clean up the wiring last night after work, and decided to pull the carpet off the rear wall of the trailer. I knew I had some rot in the rear right, but was amazed at how much there was. All the wood on that corner, and 1/2 way across the top was rotted and fell out with not much assistance. I'm going to have to remove the rear doors, and then the framework for the doors to be able to get at screws that hold the top wood and closest side piece in. I'm not sure how to attach the very corner piece that meets the adjacent side piece beside the door. Originally it was stapled (big long steel staples) from the siding, hidden by where it overlaps each piece. I'll figure something out. At least the left side was fine. Once I get this done, I'll install luan over the walls. Time is a wasting here, need to get this done and get some stuff done with my boat before leaving on vacation July 12. I'll get some polar today before I come home from work and this will be my weekend project. Hopefully it won't take that long, but I tend to overestimate stuff like this anymore!

Wow Frank, you have some reconstruction to do. Do you have a heated work shop for a long winter project?
Glad to see you where able to get out camping. Makes this all worth it.

This is moving along nicely John. And yes and no to the heated work shop. We live in a raised ranch, and the basement is my shop. Directly adjacent is my garage where we keep our two vehicles. Those vehicles can move out for projects, but not for long, and not much in the winter. Neither the basement or garage is heated, but I do have AC in the garage.
I have a few more staples to pull, still need to clean the back of the aluminum door frame, need to exchange some wrong sized screws today and find some sealing tape for putting everything back together. I think I can have this done with a few more days of work. Then it's mounting the scissor jacks and making a temporary platform bed before July 10.

Those linesmen pliers look just like the pair I have and I ended up with mine from my Dad a real long time ago before my brother nabbed them. I'm guessing mine are 1950 or 1960 vintage. Most all the newer ones have some form of urethane or plastic covering on the handles. Good tools can last a life time and in my case we are working on the 2nd life time.

Rear right rot begone!
I'm not sure how good a job I did, but all the rotted wood that fell out of the right rear got replaced today. Everything inside from the top of the corner seam all the way down, and then back across to the wheel well opening, the entire top frame for the door, other pieces here and there. I didn't have much to go by, so maybe my door frame will be a bit tight, but I don't think so. I should know tomorrow. Air stapler gun was a major asset. I should have had one of those a long time ago! A buddy lent me a table top power plane, and I wouldn't mind one of those either.
This all started when we got back from our first Sunspot camping trip the 13th of the month. Soon as I had time a few days later I went down to re-do some of the wiring...
Good this is done. I need to drill new holes in all the new wood, but my right shoulder told me to quit for the day. Shop is clean (me too), tools all put away, and we're going out dinner. More tomorrow.
Frank

Looking good Frank. Yeh those air staplers rank up there next to sliced bread. LOL

Thanks John. Ya learn sumpin new every darn day! Drill holes tomorrow, butyl tape everything and move on to the next task. Having fun with it. It really needs to be torn down and re-framed, but I think this is a lot better than it was, and I have my hands full with other stuff to do.
Enjoy your weekend!

Success!
The doors shut and open just fine. Frame literally snaps into place. We'll see how it goes.
You can see in the pic with the doors on, the nice bright aluminum above the door frame. That's a result of the weathered paint disappearing when hit with acetone, which I used for removing traces of butyl tape. I don't suppose you can get rattle cans of whatever color this is (was)?
Off to the next project.

New cushions!
Gail is making new cushions for seats I plan to build. These two are seat backs (21" wide), two new ones to come are seat bottoms (17" wide).
I've been working on tidying up wiring in the back, and getting ready to put new luan up to replace the carpet I took off the walls in the back. Maybe I'll get the scissor jacks on tomorrow too, we'll see.
I just posted a question on the Repairs and Maintenance forum about sealing holes in the exterior, both those with nothing in them, and ones wires run through. Any ideas greatly appreciated!

I can see by the tools in the pics Gail is a handy craft'er. Nice work! Cindy has the same collection up stairs. Every time I post one of her projects, she says no on wants to see that... I say, you would be surprised who likes to see that. Sparks lots of ideas.
Keep up the good work, both of you. Camping will be soon coming along to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
John
