Lewis' 1986 Satellite - 22 ft.

Hello,
My name is Lewis Hopkins and I have owned my 1986 Satellite - 22 ft. camper for approximately 12 years. I have looked at buying other campers, but this one is really all I need. I have made a few minor repairs and it keeps on going.
If I can help anyone, let me know.
Thanks,
Lewis Hopkins - Roanoke, VA

Hi Lewis,

Good to hear from you again. And thanks for the help offer as the help is always appreciated. Just join in on any posts members ask for help when you can.

Yes, the Sunlines do just keep on going. They do need TLC and some maintenance, but having a good working 34 year old camper is a testament to the owner and Sunline!

I see you are from the Roanoke area. I use to do a quantity of work in one of our manufacturing plants in Altavista, and drove through Roanoke on the way to the plant. We hope some day to get back to VA with the camper. Where have you camped in the area? Smith Mountain lake use to be a familiar area my down south buddies would talk of, (mainly with boats) but I never was at that campground. I thought it was a boondocking off grid campground which is not a problem for us. We do off-grid camping often.

Thanks

John

Hi John,
Roanoke is a great area to visit and camp. Smith Mountain Lake has a few campgrounds with the SML State Park being very popular. See this link: https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-p...cabins_camping
I actually moved North of Roanoke to Oriskany, VA which is about 40 mile away near the Jefferson National Forest where there are many places to camp. I do not camp much around Roanoke, but when I do, I prefer to camp at the Roanoke Elks Lodge #197 when I am spending a weekend in town. Also, I like The Peaks Of Otter campground and restaurant on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thanks for you note and give me a call some time at 540-567-2242.
Sincerely,
Lewis Hopkins

Thanks Lewis for the info. Very much appreciated. I will keep it handy when we get to heading down south with the Sunline.
