Prodigy Brake Controller
I was surprised this forum didn't have a pure Prodigy brake controller topic. So now, there is one .
Like the Equalizer, I have always heard much about the benefits of the Prodigy. Since I went from a 23 foot lightweight Trail-lite Bantam hybrid trailer, to my Solaris 2553, I thought I need to upgrade several things.
So, I bought the Prodigy from E-trailer.com. I got my old generic U-haul unplugged it from the panel under the dash, and I plugged the Prodigy in (I bought the $12 plug in cable which goes directly from the Prodigy to the factory connection). And that was it!
The first tow was last weekend, and I was sold. No more jerky stops or hesitations. The Prodigy works with "inertial" forces to sense the grade and force in which you are stopping the trailer.
Now I an highly recommend this great product too. I assume there are many other on this forum that will second this fact??

Mike,
Sorry, I can't second it. We've got two Draw-tite Activator II controllers and my grandpa has one also. It's just something I look over quite a bit. I guess once it goes bad, I'll replace it, unless everyone can convince me otherwise. As long as I can still stop...

We love our Prodigy, would highly reccommend it!
That being said, I figured they all worked the same, and did the same thing.

Hey Mark,
I will second that. We switched from the time-based DrawTite Activator II to the Tekonsha Prodigy when we got our new tow vehicle. Unbelievable the difference, like night and day. The Prodigy is so smooth, no jerking like what I had with the other unit.

Hutch,
You've got a point, the Draw Tite does cause a lot of jerking. Maybe I'll ask for a new controller for next Christmas or my birthday, since I now have a TV to put it in .

Prodigy is on sale now at Campers World. $99.00 after rebate. At that price, I had to upgrade.

Had Prodigy in previous tow vehicles, was very happy with it. Now, with my F-350 I have that built in controller and I love it.

We had a Prodigy installed in our truck when we purchased it last year. It works fine, but then so did our previous non-Prodigy Tekonsha controllers. If you need a controller then the Prodigy is a good choice, but it's not the only controller that does the job.

Prodigy also works VERY well going backwards. Most will not appreciate that unless you have my driveway. Backing my car carrier down the driveway one wet fall day, the truck started sliding............into my Scion XB..........into the tractor shed and once all was done & over, I had a mess. After a lot of research, I purchased my Prodigy and LOVE it. A hard lesson to learn but worth it in the end!

We've used the Prodigy on both my Durango and my RAM. One thing to consider - the Prodigy is covered by a lifetime warranty. We had a problem two years ago heading North from Myrtle Beach. Had MB Camping world run some diagnostics and they found some anomalies. They replaced it with a brand new one even though I didn't even have a receipt for it (had bought it on-line 3 years previous). Turned out that wsn't the problem, but was glad I got a new one anyway.
