DC Converter Noise in Radio

I just purchased a 1992 sunline truck camper. Has Magnetek 3230 power Converter that automatically powers camper when plugged in. AM/FM radio in camper works great when working of truck battery alone. However when operating from dc power supply the noise and harsh hum is so bad in radio it will not work. What is the best way to filter the power so the radio will play properly?

I've used ferrite choke filters in the past.. Just put it in the 12v power feed to the radio.. It might possibly work for you.

However, if your converter is on it's way out, it may be better for you to get a Progressive Dynamics replacement converter for your Sunline. I've installed two of them and they deliver some clean DC power!

Good luck!

Gary

As Gary said converter. There are any number of newer switching converters a lot more efficient they can say plugged in with no harm to the battery with a much greater charge output. As far as I'm concerned a modern 3 stage converter is one of the cheapest and best upgrade you can do. I boon dock a lot an use a small generator to charge the battery the stock charger is about a 3 amp charge rate my replacement was 45 amp the charge time is vastly improved. An added bonus they are about ¼ the weight!
