2753 Weight Gain???
Hello all,
While discussing the 2753 floorplan with a friend,we noticed that the specs on a 2003 2753 are-UVW 4,575 lbs.,hitch weight 620 lbs. and length 27'7".On the 2004 2753 the specs are-UVW 4,975 lbs.,hitch weight 675 lbs.,length 27'7".That is a 400 lb. weight gain with a hitch weight increase of 55 lbs.The weight gain stays the same thru the 2007 model year.We were curious if anyone can explain.Thanks!
(above weights are from the Sunline brochures on this forum, thanks
Jon!)

I do not know that floor plan exactly however 2004 was a design change year.
Fresh tank and I think black and gray became bigger, battery disconnected switch came, junction box on the A frame, the HW heater was upgraded by Atwood, cabinets in 2004 went to maple in place of oak, Shub shower door came in place of the accordion door, the main entry door became wider, Cargo doors became bigger but do not know if that was exactly in 2004. Tank monitor panel was now 3 switches in later 2004's. This was a few of the things. The china toilet, do not know what that came.
in 2005 they changed the main frame rails and the A Frame. That change may have added some good weight but the 2004 frames where just like the 2003's
However while those add some weight, it is not 400# excluding the frame which the 2004's did not get.

Our 2006 2753 was 28' long, not 27'7". I'm not sure when they upped the length, but that could certainly explain a weight gain. The older models had no counter space between the sink and stove, while the newer ones had about a foot. You might check out the photos in the brochure to compare the 2003 kitchen to the 2004. Could be the brochure just has a typo - that they forgot to change the length, or the change was made mid year.

happytocamp..In checking the brochure floorplans, I noticed a height difference of a half foot which could account for some of it..also,Pam, that foot of counter space gained in the newer models came at the expense of shortening the sofa to a loveseat length. I do think the maple cabinetry adds weight as do the underbed drawers. I saw a picture of a newer one listed for sale and noticed the underbed exterior storage hatch enters from the sides instead of the rear..did they move the rear corner water heater to a new location like possibly the front, whicuh would also add to the tongue weight???This added weight overall is why I am limiting my search to 2003 and older...BY THE WAY..I AM STILL LOOKING TO BUY A 2753 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE...PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU SEE ONE 1999-2003..!!!Janalee

The hot water heater was under the sofa right next to the kitchen sink. I forgot about the shorter sofa...it was still long enough for us shorties to stretch out on. Looks like they increased the length to 28' in 2005.

Aha! So there is a tongue increase of 50# when full! But its a good place for the water heater for the kitchen usage. Also, access to it for bypass was wicked in the rear corner.

This is true when full, however the brochures are dry weight with no water.
I did not know about the 2004's had draws added under the bed. Ours has them. Never realized that. They are handy.
