Yep, they did. It is rare to find one come up for sale, especially one this old. The '78's were only available on the Datsun chassis, though the Toyota became available and more popular later on. They all had sticks too!

BTW, the correct model name is Solaris. This was out well before the first Solaris Travel Trailer and was the first ever unit to use the Solaris name.

Here's a link to the '78 brochure for it.

Oh yeah, another thing. Notice the back wheels look funny? That's due to the following recall:

Make : SUNLINE Model : SOLARIS Year : 1978-1980
Build Dates : 1978-11-01 - 1981-01-01
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 81V024000
Date Owner's Notified: 1981-03-20 Date Received by ODI: 19810103 Date Added to Databse: 1981-03-11
Manufacturer's Involved: SUNLINE COACH COMPANY
Manufacturer's Responsible for the Recall: SUNLINE COACH COMPANY
Manufacturer Campaign Number:
Component: SUSPENSION:MULTIPLE AXLE
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 331
Summary:
THE USE OF THE DUAL WHEEL ADAPTOR ON THE REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY MAY CAUSE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE REAR WHEEL BEARING AND AXLE. ALSO, THE REAR AXLE SHAFT COULD BREAK AT THE ROLLER BEARING, WITHOUT WARNING, ALLOWING THE REAR TIRE AND WHEEL TO ROLL FREE FROM THE MOTOR HOME.
Consequence:

Remedy:
REAR AXLES, BEARINGS, AND SEALS WILL BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, DUAL WHEELS WILL BE REPLACED WITH SINGLE SIDE WHEELS. MODIFICATIONS WILL BE PERFORMED WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNERS.
Report Initiator: MFR Vehicles Report
Regulation Part Number: Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number:
Notes:
CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATIONS AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

This recall would have put the single wheels on. I'm glad to see this was taken care of, because even if you could call this 800 number, I have no idea where you could go about getting the parts for it.

Yeah, I know. It would turn heads!! I think my ultimate Sunline towing combo should be a Solaris pulling a Sunspot. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting anything more than a Sunspot behind that little four cylinder anyway. I hear those 22R engines are quite good for their time, but it's no PSD .

I have absolutely no idea how much it would cost, but I want to guess it really wouldn't be much. Something that old wouldn't be valued for very much unless it were classified as a "Antique Vehicle". I'm not an insurance expert, so I can't help you much. I'll just take a wild guess and say maybe it would be $800/year???

Call your auto insurer. We insure our QUE with EIRE, who also has our cars and home.

Take a look at this thread:
http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...html#post87497

Scroll down and there is a picture of the fresh water tank drain valve on a 2363. Almost all trailers use a similar looking valve.
