Welcome mrb54812 and congrats on your new Sunny!
I am not sure if this is the case on all model years but on my 1987 the VIN is on the driver side of the A-frame as well as a metal plate underneath the sill of the entry door. If not there report back. One of the senior members may be able to tell you where else to look.
Happy camping!
Tommie

Try doing a search using the forum's custom search. I have seen threads discussing different locations for the VIN.

Hi mrb54812
It should be a metal plate with about 4 screws. Remove the screws to remove the metal plate. It should be under there. If not, SunlineFan maybe able to give other places to look. There are some threads on here where he was helping others. I will try to find some at lunch.
Thanks,
Tommie

Yes, that's it. Not technically a VIN, but rather a serial number. Formal 17 digit VINs came in late 1980.
It confirms it's a 1978, and #2301 built that year.
On a 1978, it should be stamped into the steel coupler on the left side, not on the aluminum plate as Tommie said. That didn't come until the 17 digit VINs. It'll be hard to see if the coupler/frame has been painted over many times.

So I can title it with that number? Because it doesn't even have a license plate holder on rear taillight

Yes, absolutely. It should have been in the past. You might want to go to a police station for a VIN check, so they can verify that VIN. Maybe they can help direct you on how to do a title search to see if a title was previously issued with that, so it can be transferred to your name.
There should have been two tabs below the left taillight for the plate. If the lights weren't replaced, the tabs probably just broke off. They are plastic and that happens pretty easy.

Hi ! Thanks for letting me join. I just inherited a small Sunline travel trailer.
I’ve been try to find a vin decoder on this cool group.
I’m new,..so please bare with me.. lol
Vin#
1LG6 2S1F17E 152760
The first 6,might be a G
The E might be an F. It’s scratched on those two number and letter.
I need to identify this cool trailer because it’s locked and no keys came with it. I have to figure out how/who can make me keys.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Welcome Eriley and congrats on inheriting a Sunline! What part of Michigan are you in?
Your correct full VIN is 1LC2S1F17ED152760, 17 digits total.
You have a 1984 Sunline T-1550.
Unfortunately you will probably struggle to get keys made, unless you pay a mobile locksmith to come out. The year/model or even make of the trailer are irrelevant to the keys. The doors were made by an outside supplier and Sunline just bought them, installed them, and stuck striping decals on them.
A mobile locksmith is a possibility, but be prepared for this to cost $100 or more. But if they come out, they can make keys for everything on your trailer- both baggage doors, fresh water fill door, entry door deadbolt, and the entry door knob.
However, for the actual knob on the door, if that's all that's latched, it will likely be more cost efficient for you to drill out the lock and replace the handle. Here's a new replacement handle for what you should have: https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-L32C...66434471&psc=1
Here's the deadbolt too. I'm sure getting this is cheaper in both cases than having a locksmith make keys.
Similarly, the two storage compartment doors inside can be accessed from the inside. Simply lift the bench top or whatever to access that area. Then take a screwdriver and remove the small locking prong. Then you can open the door and remove the nut holding the lock on and then replace with a new lock of your choosing.

Thank You !!!!!
Thanks so much for that info!!!!
Wife and I are excited to start cleaning it up and go use it.
I contacted our local locksmith and he can open the trailer ($75), and then I can take the door handle off and they make me keys…
Your help got me way ahead with my research on this lil’ gem.
Great group here.
I enjoy just reading the forum.
Cool stuff!
I’ll post an update after all is said and done with the key situation.👍😉
