Rubber roof and stud locations

Jon, or anyone else that knows:

What is the best way to find the wood cross members in the roof. Will a standard stud finder work? I guess the best way to mount the solar panels would be with wood screws into the cross members with plenty of caulk/adhesive in the hole and over the bracket.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Wayne

Wayne,

I think a stud finder would work - though never tried it.

There's also this Sunline ceiling stud draing on the files page. Not sure if this will help at all.

Wayne,

Since you have a rubber roof, just push! The roof is slightly flexible in the areas between the rafters, so just keep pushing until it gets hard. Don't push too hard though, as it might damage the roof. I guess a stud finder would work too, if you have one.
