A service/celebration for Kitty
First of all, thank you all for the prayers and condolences. Kitty fought her battle with dignity and left us peacefully. Just before she passed, she got a big smile on her face. I know she was seeing Jesus and I also know she was ready. She was the love of my life and she will be missed.
Her wish was to not have any kind of funeral, no burial and no fuss made over her. I will respect the first two wishes, but I want to invite everyone to a celebration in her honor. We are still working out the details, but it is planned for Saturday, November 17th, 2012 at 1pm. The place is yet to be determined, but will be close to our home. I will post an update as soon as possible.
Just as with the wedding, dress will be casual... Kitty didn't like anyone getting all "Dressed up" for her...
I know we are a spread out group, but anyone able to make it will be welcome to come.
I love you, my Queen of modding..

We had to decide on a place called Junior Order Hall. I will give directions from interstate 81 exit #5 in West Virginia.
From I81, head west on WV 51 (Gerrardstown Rd.) for 4.5 miles.
At the top of the mountain, turn left at the stop sign (Onto Apple Harvest Dr.) and go 2.6 miles.
Turn right onto Back Creek Valley Rd. and go 1.9 miles.
You will see Back Creek Valley Fire Department and BCV Elementary school on the right. The hall is just past the school.

As much as Mary and I wish we could be there, we are also sorry to say we cannot make it.
But like Kathy and Leo, we will be there in spirit.

Kitty's celebration went very well. Her son's motorcycle club had several members there, as well as several sheriff's department officers. Several of her co-workers were there, as well as the greyhound rescue group she worked with. The SOC had seven members there (Including myself)
There was a lot more food and dessert there, than we could even hope to eat. We had a good time, full of fellowship and memories of Kitty. Of course, there were a few teary eyes there (Again, including myself.) but we did celebrate Kitty's life.
There were several tables of food... We left there stuffed.
Kitty was really involved in greyhound rescue and I asked that the group be there, for a greyhound meet and greet. The dogs worked very hard, as they always do.
The county had her bus brought in and parked outside. She was so proud of the fact, that this was her very first brand new bus.
One of Kitty's best friends took several pictures and arranged them on three poster sized boards. She also had our wedding album on display, as well as the greyhound album Kitty had been working on. I couldn't take any pictures of all that... It was too hard. Hopefully, one of the other SOC members got some pics of it.
I know she didn't want any kind of memorial service, but this wasn't just for her. It was for those of us, that she left behind.

Gary,
Thanks for posting. Glad this came off very well. Kitty was a great person with a lot of good friends. The county bringing in her bus, what a nice thing to do.
Kitty you are for sure missed.

Thanks for posting the pics, Gary. As John said, that was really special that they got her bus there. I know she talked about it an awful lot.

Gary,
You said: "I know she didn't want any kind of memorial service, but this wasn't just for her. It was for those of us, that she left behind."
Just know that "those she left behind" are loved as well and admired as well. Cyber hugs to you and yours.

Gary,
Thanks for posting the pictures of Kitty's celebration. It certainly lets those of us who could only be there in spirit, be there virtually. I know it was hard, but I think it was exactly what Kitty would have done for any of us.

It looks like it was a lovely life celebration for Kitty, our dear friend. After fetching our daughter, We all took a little hike yesterday and talked about Kitty as we walked through the woods I truly wish we could have been there.

I echo Mack's comments. We would have loved to be there, but just impossible for us this weekend. Kitty is special to so many friends, always happy, always willing to help...she will be sadly missed and by the turn out at her celebration everyone feels the same as we do!
Gary, stay strong, if you ever need to talk, you have so many friends here that are willing to do so!

Gary,
Thank you for posting the pictures. While we could not be there, Marshall and I were thinking of you and Kitty yesterday.
It is easy to see from the pictures that Kitty was loved by many, many people.

Gary,
Thank you for the pictures of the shindig in Kitty's honor/memory. It's one more good way for all of us to learn more about who Kitty was. It's wonderful when a family and friends get together and share in remembering a special person. As I've said before, I'm sorry that Nancy and I never got to meet Kitty in person. These pictures as well as all of the comments that have been written help those of us who only met Kitty here in the SOC, to learn to know her better.
Our continued thoughts and prayers for you and your families.
Paul and Nancy

Gary,
Thank you for posting the pictures we too wished we could of been there and I am glad that things went well I am sure she was looking down and honored by all her friends and family support not only remembering her but being there for you too Gary that is something that I know she would have wanted. It would be nice to have the same honor/memory celebration at Buttonwood next year as that is where we all first met Kitty so it seems the right place for a celebration of her life and all that she meant to all of us.
We are keeping you in our thoughts and are here if you need us. Mary & Tom

I had trouble with my computer and connection and was not online a lot the end of last year and once on, had trouble with my login so I did not find out until now about Kitty's passing. I feel horrible that I could not find out sooner and attend her celebration. While we never met formally, both she and you had been so nice, helpful and wonderful when I joined the club last summer. There are no word that can be said, I wish there were. My prayers are with you. She had a heart and glow with her kindness of that to an angel. She can now watch over us all while we camp, fix our camper or have ambitions of camping while searching for those items to make the experience possible.
Much love for you, Gary.
