I recently ordered a converter from AEI and now 40days later they have not shipped the converter. All I get is excuses and a run around when i email them and ask what is going on. Does anyone out there have any experience dealing with AEI?

Simple STOP PAYMENT!!!! If it was a credit card charge, dispute it with the credit card company.

I can''t just stop payment against my credit card because my Sunline has no power without the converter that I ordered from AEI.

Hi Troutman,
Sorry about your situation. In late 2007 early 2008 time frame I did contact them for technical info as my AE converter sounded like a cements mixer at 3:00am... The darn fans... At that time they where helpful, only had 1 tech guy to talk too, but helped. After researching what they had, I went to a Progressive Dynamics and glad I did. I kept the original AE 120 VAC panel and the 12 volt fuse strip and just tied onto the DC bus.
In my case I had room to fit this remote mount setup. But now a days they make units that slide in too. If you have a Sunline with an AE in it, I'm guessing it is a 2003 to 2005 model. Prior to 2003 they used Centurion and after 2005 ish they went to WFCO
What camper model do you have? We may have some options for you.
Here is my conversion http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...rade-8888.html
Also see this post by Wannabe's. They ended up going a different route due to space. We have many here who have had to do an upgrade.

Good luck and hope this helps
John

But if they are not responding and you are just waiting for someone to get back to you and they are not - you still have a Sunline with no power!
May be time to cut your losses!
Just saying!

I don't have the electrical skills to try and adapt some other unit to my TT. That's why I have put up with AEI this long.

They will respond by email, but they just continue to give excuses why they have not shipped the converter. When I call, all you get is a recorded message asking for a callback number.

Troutman,
First, welcome to the SOC!
About your converter, I'd do as Poppy & Nana recommended, cancel/contest your order, and then check out bestconverter.com. Their toll-free number is 888-828-1893. Ask them who is making a "drop-in converter" for your Sunline model. Tech questions are answered by Randy who can direct you the right way. JohnB mentioned WFCO and I think they do make a converter which is a drop-in model (without need for modifications) but bestconverter.com would know. We bought our IOTA converter from them and, even tho' we had to make mods, were very pleased with their service. They'll get it to you ASAP.
FWIW, we had the same problem you did last year at this time and, to add to it, we wanted to buy an American-made converter. It took a little while but we were able to get a converter that worked and that we are pleased with. Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for your support and for the suggestion where I might get a new converter.
For the time being, an electrican friend has bypassed the "fried " printed circuit board and made it possible to operate all systems off the battery using a maintainer charger. Meanwhile, I will continue to deal with AEI, as they claim that an exclusive supplier of a transformer is the causee of their delay. We will see!!
Troutman
Thanks again to all.

I have taken Poppy & Naaan's advice, have cancelled and will go to bestconverter.com. Thanks for the advice and I hope I can get a "drop-in".
