Which door holder should I get?

Our OEM entry door holder--plunger and rubber stopper--is very tired. I actually like this one hand style, but have not been able to find a direct replacement to screw into the same holes. Of course I only need the rubber stopper/bumper. I'm going to try the unused one from the front door first, but I suspect it's just as dried out and hard as the rear door.

Which style are you using/finding works well??

I hate to drill new holes into the fiberglass side or the door. What's the best way to fill in the originals if I have to go this route?

Holes in door.

Henry,
To fill in the holes : Mix 2 part EPOXY (30min. or 5min.) with Fiberglass Fibers to make a thick paste. You can get the Fiberglass fibers from a Boat or auto supply store. This would be much better than a auto body filler, but you could use that also.

Good post as mine are "tired" too.

Mine are plastic, not rubber, and look like this off the Tweety site. I only need the plastic round holder.

This one for $5.18

This one for $15.15 (Why 3 x in price???

This is the 1st time I have actually seen something that comes close. Our stud is a little different looking but the plastic holder at least "looks" the same. I looked on the Kwikee web site and could not find that style that is even listed on the Tweety’s site.

But doing some digging I found this. It looks like just the socket part and for the right price,

Door Holder Adjustable Socket Only [S117-318898]

http://www.adventurerv.net/door-hold...ly-p-2297.html

Now the question is, is this the one?

And doing even more digging I found this on the Tweetys site.
http://www.tweetys.com/browseproduct...cket-Only.html

That is even cheaper.

General RV did have some a while ago, but they have since sold out of them. They got them directly from Sunline, who apparently was the only manufacturer using them.

I like the swivel idea, I wonder if it uses the same screw holes...

Thanks for the help. Now that I know it's called a "socket" it's been much easier to search. Unfortunately, while some web sites have it for less than $2, shipping is around $10.

I did find this web site from Moore Hardware with stores in Cincinnati, Harrisburg and Atlanta so it may be an easy drive for others looking for various kinds of hardware. They have a really nice web site that seems to give dimensional drawings of all their hardware items. See this link for the door holder/socket and then click on "dimensional drawing of door holder" in the box on the right hand side.

http://mooreindhardware.thomasnet.co...1-1-2?&seo=110

That's a great idea and really useful for checking if an item will fit.

Ours has been useless for some time now and we tried the 'C' style model, but couldnt get them to line up with the same holes.

I didnt want to drill into the fiberglass so I just returned it.

I'm looking for something that will lock like the other models on that paged you linked to. If anyone finds anything that lines up to our original mounting holes, let me know as I'd love to get one that holds the door open.

RIght now I just use a bunge cord, but on a windy day, it always comes slamming shut which usually makes the dogs launch off the couch.....maybe I shouldnt fix it
