Dan
Your welcome and thank you from bring this up to all of us. And please report what you find. I suspect you have corrosion on the earth ground wire bolting up to the frame and siding. The older the coach is the worse this can be, road salt, wet, dirt and other kinds of yuk that fly’s up all over it.
It was your post of the problem along with the Al_in_cedar and then Jbstrailer wow 3 of them…. that prompted me to dig deeper into this. As I said I never really thought about the camper siding. I knew I was religiously testing the campground power post and I knew the inside 120 VAC was wired right. But... this outside metal skin that covers the entire camper and roofs on some, that won’t show up in that test.
In all the spring startup check lists I have read on many RV sites, they have not mentioned much about checking the grounding on a camper. It is a silent issue and can be for years until that combination comes up, the AC wire wiggled and is now touching the metal frame and lighting up the camper... or any other wire insulation problem.
Good luck
John
