How the heck does this open?
Help y'all. I'm stumped.
I'm talking about the black electrical enclosure mounted on the frame right behind the battery. This is where the back end of the tow vehicle cable goes. It is also where the battery cable and the cable from the converter are connected to each other.
Anyway, there's 6 recesses on the front of the box. If there are screws in there, I can't tell what kind of heads they have.
Otherwise, I can't figure out how to get the box open.

Since I believe you have a non slide camper, this is most likely it looks like inside that box. This is off of a 2004 non slide camper. The slide campers have an extra circuit breaker in there for the slide motor. Have pics of that too if needed.
Those 6 little holes…..ERRRRR. What is in there is tiny Philips screws. Odds are in your favor that they are plugged with dirt and you cannot get the screw driver bit to even start in the screw. Use a drill bit by hand to clean out the dirt then try lightly tapping on the screw driver to seat it in the head before turning.
Odds are also in your favor you are going to strip the heads on one…. To help offset that fact, press in real hard on the screw driver when unscrewing them to prevent the problem.
Here is the next recommendation. Once you actually get all 6 screws out…. Use stainless larger sheet metal screws that have the heads out in the open. I cannot remember the exact size I used. I think a no 6 screw but again cannot remember. If you are thinking of going this route and want me to take one out and measure it, I will. Just ask.
See here
Hope this helps and good luck
John

Got it done. Replaced the screws as suggested. I drilled out the original holes on the back half of the box to accept slightly larger screws.
The holes were plugged with dirt dauber nests that I had to dig out.
Many thanks, John.

Hi 40
Glad you broke in..... Yes it is amazing how the dirt in those holes plugs them shut.... It' like a magnet..

John,
I also posted this question over at RVNet. 156 views and no replies. Sometimes I can get help over there and sometimes not.

I have heard, this is the place for Sunline info !!! Seems to be true. LOL
That box I think is a Sunline e xclusive. I have not seen it before exaclty quite like that on other brands. Or the 153 people who viewed it never takes that cover off...
I know of 3 other Sunline Members who have had that cover off. There may be more, just I have not bumped into them. The screws on the outside came from Art at the Buttonwoood M & G. He pointed it out to me as I dealt with those screws ERRRRRR. And soon I upgraded.... Now you are the 4th person I know who has been in there
John

You didn't bump into me (At least I hope not, or maybe a field sobriety test may have been in order...)
I had to get into that box on the 299 frame, when I had to replace the pigtail. I never even thought of using larger screws and wound up only getting 3 of the original screws back into it.
