Very fruitful day

Life has kept me so busy lately, that Sunny hasn't gotten much attention. Today was different, however. Our Onan genset has been mounted for a couple of weeks, but it only had a 30AMP female plug on the wire. Today, the plug was replaced by a 30AMP transfer switch. Now, when the generator is turned on, it automatically switches from the shore supply to the generator. The prongs on our Park Power receptacle are not energized, while the generator is running. That is a big safety issue for me, since Kitty had to plug potentially hot prongs into a receptacle on her T-2499.

We also managed to get the remote start/stop for the generator hooked up and it's just below the medicine cabinet. The only hole I had to drill, was in the wall between the sink vanity and the small closet beside it. It's amazing how open things are. I was able to run the wires up through a hole already between the basement and the bottom of the closet. There was no insulation, or sealant in that hole. The size of the hole is approximately 5" by 12" and it is where the vanity water lines, drain pipe and heating ducts come through the floor.

While I had the converter out for the transfer switch installation, I also installed a Progressive Dynamics PDM9260 converter. The 60AMP Centurion converter already there, was almost nine years old and the fans were very noisy. The transfer switch and new converter are mounted to the floor, in the space where the old power cord used to be stored. When I installed the Park Power, there was only enough cord left in that area to reach the converter.

When I was finally able to test everything, it all worked perfectly. It is so satisfying to have things work right the first time. We worked on this project all day today and it was/is well worth it! I'm sorry for not getting any pictures yet, but I'm sure Kitty will be posting some soon!
