Good Morning:
Well spring is here as is decent weather, i have begun working on the trailer, so far:
DONE ITEMS:
> lubed the bearings and check the lug nuts
> cleaned and lubed the stabilizer jack, tongue jack & equilizer connections and any other metal joint parts
> cleaned relubed the hitch assembly - ball, bars etc
> loosed the steps, cleaned the joints and greesed them --- one finger is
all you need now to pull them out!!!! (thanks to my neighbour)
> greased the antenna mechanism
> cleaned the frige burner - check flame color and also the water heater
> re-installed a bumper cap that i lost some where
> washed and conditioned the roof, check out the caulking situation
> washed the outside thoroughly & cleaned, siliconed the cords and
hoses
> washed the outside rugs, table, chairs and BBQ
> sorted out the tool box for uneeded parts (like those from my last
trailer that would not wok on this one)
> cleaned out all the cabinets and removed anything that we don't use -
got quite a bit of more storage space (yeah!)
> reconfigured a new set of led outdoor lighting to be plugged into a 12V
outlet that i have installed in the power cord storage area (there
becuase i have a 12V bildge pump that i use to empty potable water
containers into the trailer tank - saves having to hold them up and
wait for gravity to do it.
NOW TO DO:
> mount a weather proof box to the door side of the trailer with a 12 V
plug inside for the lgiths - perhaps switeched from the inside.
> want to take a wire brush and clean up the frame (including the hitch)
then paint it --- was going to use tremclad --- but is there something
else i should be using?
> the gas supply pipe under the trailer is very rusty - so want to scarp
it, check the fitting for tighness and paint it as well (yellow the gas
colour)-----> there is a pipe that runs aross the trailer to the door side
for a future BBQ hookup, how hard would it be to remove it from
the "T" and cap the "T" ---- since we do not use it an likely ever will?
> i also want to install a set of back up lights and a couple of lights
around the trailer ---- the two steps and the dump valves (that should
be esay using exterior surface mount LED marker lights - hopefully
switch to the inside of the trailer door.
> once this work is to be done, so that i can enclose the tanks and heat
the area with a take off of the furnace to extend our camping season
by doing:
- adding some Roxul insulation as it doesn;t hold water and is treated
to resist mildew - using some pl preimum to old it in - especially
located at the front where the wind would be hitting it while driving
palce
- changing the potable water tank drain to a hydrant type tap so that
the washer is insdie the heated section and there is no water in the
exposed section of pipe
- drop down an furnace duct and split it into sections for even
covererage round the tranks
- configuring an access panel location for the sewer valve to if it needs
attention - lubing, i only have to remove a small section of the under
section to get at it
- using self tapping automotive screws with the washer heads along
with some good cauliing (like roof patch silicone) around the edges to
ensure a good seal
- i was lukcy to receive a 30 ft role of black colorplast trailer encsloure
material from my buddy at the dealerhip (free!) that will cover the
area i wished covered.
- insatall a mud flap behind the door side wheel to hopefully keep the
rear step and back of triler clean --- this is already one on before the
tank dump vales
Questions:
-- how hard it is to use a hole drill to drill throught
the floor to the understide of the trailer
i suspect that there are a few inches of space
between the lineo and the current trailer
underside --- anyone have any idea about this?
-- what to i use and how do i paint the rims? do they have to be white? as they are getting a bit rusty --- suggestions and can i do it with the wheels on if i a tape and am careful?
-- and should i be able to just use a 4" hole saw
providing i make sure that i am not going to it
anything imporatant - like plipes, wiring etc.
Wsih List future items:
- install small accumulator tank
- possible day-night shades
- more pipe insulation to help quiet the pump nose
- install an new sewer hsose carrier - undreneath as i hate the pmper and don't use it - just carry the hose in a pail in the back of the truck
- change 12 V batters to 6V (once they die)
- install a ceiling fan in the bedroom or a wall mounted oscilating 12 V
>>>> i would also like to know how to build one of those free standing flag poles that i have seen at some campgounds on which to hang my canadian flag --- anyway have a link - they don't look hard and seem ot be made out of PVC piping or something?)
so any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated
alex
