Picked up a T-1700
Hello all.
My name is Brian and I live in PA.
On Sunday, a friend of mine sent me a message stating that he saw an ad on facebook for a camper, $100
Now, I need more projects like I need a hole in my head, but I thought worst case scenario I wasted 20 minutes of time and best case I have a camper.
I found the ad, messaged the guy and told him I would be down to look at it shorty. Turns out it was about 2 miles away from my house.
I drove down, took a look at it. Smelled like cigarettes and was covered in snow but looked okay. No water damage I could see and no outside damage from trees, etc.
I told the guy I would take it. He was thrilled, turns out he had sold the house and had no way to remove the camper, the realtor was on him to get it taken away because the new owners would be taking possession of the house tomorrow (today)! The guy was so excited that someone was able to remove it that he gave it to me for free!!! SCORE!
I went back home, got my 4Runner and yanked it out of it's resting space.
Noticed 1 of the 4 tires was flat so i put the spare on and dragged it back to my house.
I have ALL the manuals for it, everything from the original sales receipt to the wiring diagrams! Except for the title.... However I am working on getting that taken care of.
Once the weather warms up I will be working on the camper with my girlfriend and using it to take some vacations!
It is a 1992 Sunline Saturn T-1700
Oddly enough when you look up the models on the NADA guide (needed to be able to get a new title) there is no option for the Saturn T-1700, only the M-1700. Is that the same thing?
Thanks all!

Welcome to the Forum. That is a sweet deal you have there. I have a 90 T170 Star Ray which is probably the same floor plan as yours. Look in the Files section at the top of the page and download the brochure for your year. You'll see the different models that were made in that year and it will give you an idea of the similarities and differences between models. Lots of helpful people on this site, but it's probably a lot more active during camping season.

Welcome Brian!
Wow, you scored on your new Sunny!
On the NADA site, they M-1700 is the same as T-1700. NADA for reasons unknown at this point, used the same numbers as Sunline, but did not carry over letters, they put M before all the numbers. Sunline used T= Travel Trailer, F= Fifth wheel, and C= Truck Camper starting in the early 80's and newer. They also had motor homes in the older days which may have been an M, I'm not totally sure on the motorhomes.
Consider making a separate post when you start fixing up your new Sunny! Ask any and all questions. This is the place for Sunline info.

Hi Parich,
If you are welcoming BigBrain to the forum, or have a question about his main post, then yes you can post here.
If you have a new "topic" then no, this is not where you would post it. The forum is setup under a number of topic specific sub forums so you folks can read and search in one area for a specific topic.
This post is in the "Introduce Yourself" forum, a place for new members to introduce themselves. Each member would create their own post to introduce themselves.
See here for more help on where and how to post new topics. And ask if you need help. We are here to help.

Here are some interior pics as requested.
As you can clearly see, it needs some work.

Thanks for sharing. Always interesting to see what folks have done with their campers. Or even what Sunline did with them.
For a 29 year old camper, and the deal you got on it, it is not in that bad of shape. Some work yes, but not like some we have seen for the same price.
Have fun this year fixing it up and getting out camping!

I turned the over head bunk into storage space also but saved the wood work section with the doors. Remove the middle section and just flipped up the front one. All and all it seems to be quite repairable. Have fun with it.

It as raining here pretty good the other day and the snow was melting at a rapid pace so I started to look for leaks. I am happy to report I couldn't find any leaks.
Seems like a solid unit to restore/modify.

Hey Brian, we have the exact same trailer. We modified it quite a bit as we had to almost completely gut it and start over from the stud walls. We started this time last year and completed it the end of July. We got to take it out 4 times and we absolutely love it. Our Sunny is just big enough for the 2 of us to be comfortable. We love that when we pull into a campground most times we are by far the smallest rig there and by my biased opinion
the cutest. We are located in Lincoln University PA if we can ever be of help with anything.
Good luck with your new girl and happy camping!

Here is a couple of my T1700. You can see what I did with the wood work over the bed I just took out the center piece for room but there is still a good deal if space inside. I have this crazy ideal of leather covers for the 90's upholstery.

mainah,
I recall seeing the second pic a while ago, but I do not recall seeing the first one of the front with your handy work. That sure came out looking great! Nice little vintage camper.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh I had a lot of fun. Custom made electric heat (can't sleep through the propane one) twin batteries, inverter, all custom LED lighting Got to add the story with the LED's the camper had 13 incandescent lights with every one of them on it drew 23 amps! I replaced all of them with LED's and added two, current draw dropped to 3.6 amps. All the decals were shot removed and painted red where they were, roof resealed and painted all of the edges resealed, rocker beams all rebuilt, expansion tank added cut pump run time 75%. I think the only thing I'm stuck with is the tub/shower just no way deal with it my only complaint with the camper. I can easily tow it with my Tacoma so all is well. A great two adult camper.

Ya know the overhead bathroom light/heaters? I captured one made up some mounting and trashed the light it is mounted under the seat for the small bed with a matching rectangular screened hole. The line voltage thermostat is on the wall above. Obviously I have to be plugged in, it draws about 1100 watts heater+ fan. We have two ham radio events one early one late in the season it's perfect for that plenty of heat. It often is close to or below freezing over night. The propane heater makes a great deal more heat in short order but if it comes on in the night I wake up wonder why I parked at the jet port.
