Here is another restoration we did so I am looking forward to seeing the little camper when we finish. This is my 73 Vette that we rescued that actually had a tree growing in it when I drug it out from behind a collapsed garage

WOW..... Neat!!
You do good work! That vette came out great! My son is into Camaros. He has 3 now, 2 run and one out of commission. The one out of commission has that gutted look like how yours started.
Thanks for sharing
John

No problem. We had a '54 Ward Lafrance that had a 12 cyl. Continental in it. Easy to confuse.

Skip, from the looks of that car I'd venture to say your trailer will be showroom quality when you are finished, and probably then some. Keep the pics coming!

I don`t know about that I have never done a camper before, but we will give it a good try and see what we end up with. My main concern right now is how much wood rot we have and how I am gonna fix it.

Ditto this! I think the camper will be childs play for you once you wrap your head around how it is constructed! Not consumer friendly. Purely manufacturing mentality used.

You know it`s funny the deeper I get into these things I am always reminded of the old indian chief in the movie The Outlaw Josey Wales where he looks at Clint Eastwood and says "Endeavor To Persevere"

Sawzall Friday have any of you been here? Airshow Sat and Nascar at Darlington Sunday so I won`t get much more done this weekend but I am on the way. Does anyone know what size the little shower pan was in these things? I will need to get one early to figure out the framing for that first.

I cannot help on the shower pan, but will suggest something in case you have not thought of it.
I suspect your restore job is going to be like new and then some. Since you are in the gut it out and fix mode, suggest you take the windows, doors and cargo holes out of the frame, scrape all the old dried up putty tape and put fresh butyl sealing tape on and reseal them. And especially the corners of the camper. Even think about the roof gutters too. At this point you are not far from a total redo. That old dried up putty tape will leak and ruin your new camper. The sealing tape the RV industry uses does not last.
Good luck
John

OHHHHH John I have to do that, there must be 50 pounds of RTV smeared around every window and vent they must have bought that stuff by the case. When I get ready to paint it I am going to pull all of the windows and vent grills and paint the camper and then reseal and reinstall them. I tell ya if they sold these things for more than 2,500 bucks they were robbing people. The wood paneling in this thing is nothing more than high class cardboard. On another note is there a place where I can send the hot water heater out to be refurbished or do I need to do that myself.

Ironic though, that this was considered a "best quality" product for its time. Kinda amkes one wonder how RVs are made today. I read numerous complaints form folks with new campers about this, that, and the other thing don't work or is broke right away. Makes me chuckle sometimes.
