Hi Ken,
Is this the one in Lebanon?
I'd say, if you're happy with the price, then go for it. In terms of the market though, it's pretty close to in line with the rest of them out there. Slightly on the high end, but I'd value it around $2500 for an average. So if it's in exceptional condition (if it's the one in Lebanon), I can see how it would be worth the extra price and also the addition of the hitch. I mean, $3000 is a nicer number to look at though... The hitch is nice, but in reality, quite a few sellers throw them in and it doesn't account for much extra value. A complete new hitch system is around $500 +/-, but a used one, especially if it's scratched and rusty at all, is only good for $150-$200 in the used market.
If it is indeed the one in Lebanon, one thing in the ad scares me. "Tires look like new". It really doesn't matter how trailer tires look, it's all about their age. So this coach may not have very many miles on it and still have the original tires from 1993.
If I were you, go find the four digit date code on the tires. The code works in that the first two digits indicate the week # that the tires were made in the year, and then the last two digits represent the actual year they were made. So a tire with 2611 was made in the 26th week of 2011. It will be toward the rim on the sidewall, probably in a little box/oval thing.
I typically recommend not going more than 5-7 years on trailer tires, which is pretty industry standard. Toward the bottom of the range if they've sat outside uncovered all that time.
Also, make sure even to get it home (unless it's a real short distance) that you inflate the tires up to the maximum pressure. I suspect the tires are probably ST205/75/R14C, which have a max pressure of 50 PSI. Put them right at 50, that's how these tires are designed to be run.
Good luck with your purchase.
Jon
