Question rock guard for front window

Hello again,

WE are wondering if there are any rv salvage yards or websites where we might find a front window rock guard for our 1999 Sunline T-24? I've scanned ebay, local craigslists, etc. Otherwise, based on other comments on this site, we may be looking at making our own? Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks

The whole thing with frame, or just the fiberglass insert?

There were two sizes of the Sunline external rock guards, and I believe you have the smaller one. I don't have dimensions of just how small that is though.

That's a tough one though. Shipping is your biggest enemy, and there are no RV salvage yards near you. And it isn't a part that has been used recently either, many went to integrated rock guards in the early 2000s.

Here's my suggestion, but you better sit down:

Custom All-Rite RockGuard - Rockguards

LOL Glad I was sitting! It's all good...Ronnie is pretty handy at making anything. I expect he'll have something completed before our first outing. That is an unbelievable price. If he gets it designed and working... I'll be sure to post a picture of it! Thanks again. (Maybe I'll be able to convince him to retire and do this for income...hahaha)

As long as you can find some sort of aluminum extrusion that will go in and hinge in the track on the window, you're all set. The original style lift arms are available here for cheap:

Stone Guard Support Arm

From there, it's just a matter of basically building a picture frame and picture.

I have bought stuff from this seller they have every thing from small parts to huge diesel pusher engines and have been pretty prompt sending stuff. My guess would be there probably is one outfit that makes the rock guards for every one you may need the track that the guard slides into all so and the arms that hold it open. LEVELING JACKS, ELECTRONICS items in Colaw RV Parts and Salvage store on eBay!

Unfortunately, most RV salvage places are out west. The ones in Indiana get more new surplus parts from manufacturers than anything. Since most Sunlines stayed along the east coast, they don't make it to these kind of salvage places. Junkyards usually just smash wrecked trailers in with a backhoe because the there aren't enough generic components worth all the labor cost to disassemble a trailer.

I still would give them a call I really think one for a Jaco etc. is probably the same as a Sunline. I would measure the window (Sunline didn't make then either) and call a few places and see what they have to say most likely the only difference is the graphics.

Yep, as long as it's the same style. For Jayco, an Eagle from the same time period would have a similar rock guard, but the Designer would not (molded/built in fiberglass). Coachmens and Fleetwoods of that time period would probably also fit if the dimensions are the same.

S.B. I have Two web comments for ya that are cost effective. 1) I would place a
WANTED ad on your local Craig List board searching for a window shield.. There are thousands of back yard vintage hobby members, such as myself, that may have size part you need. Called Tin Can Tourist , there are over 10,000 members on the Face Book page.. The second face Book page is Rigs For Sale. & their third page , or my 2) SECOND comment is join or read the Vintage PARTS For Sale page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/vintagecamperparts/ .My 79 Sunny had a very faded , thin sun screen, BUT my seasonal artist did a Mural Paint for me..
