Well, the trip took a bit more time than I thought. I needed to factor in a few more "bun fluffs," but I-95 was smooth sailing for a change. Traveling on Wed. and returning Mon. made a lot of difference.
River's End campground was bought several years ago by the city of Tybee and still retains its mom-and-pop feel. But, they do operate on island time so if the office sign says open at 8:30 that ain't necessarily so.
I picked a sight out on the on-line map trying to avoid having neighbors in my lap and succeeded. Here is site#21.

I'm cooking breakfast here and the overflow tent area is in the background. It was mostly unoccupied until Friday afternoon, then the "people watching" became excellent.

We had been to Savannah three times previously, so we decided to park the truck, pull out the bikes, and stay on the island. We did all our shopping and sight-seeing on two wheels. Street parking is $1.50 and hour so folks more inclinded to motor vehicles rent electric cars.

Even though the temps were toasty, the sea breeze found its way into camp making cocktail hour enjoyable.
Of course we had to hit the beach. By Saturday, it was in full swing. (Penny is in foreground.)
We were going to make the trip mid April but postponed it due to my foot injury (all better now). The locals said that would be the ideal time to go or wait until late Sept. to first of Nov. We will definitely return.
