**WANTED- Looking for Sunline TT with Slide

Hello all, Has anyone spotted any TT's with slide room for sale lately in the northeast? I am interested in a late model or almost new unit and one without bunks because it is only my wife and I. Thanks in advance. Jeff and Nancy

Stoltzfus RV in Adamstown, PA has 3 slide room Sunlines that don't have bunks. If you call them ask for Lee. We've always dealt with him and gotten a good price. It's not too far from NJ - about 2 hours from the shore. Here's the link to what they have...

I'll second, and third and fourth Pams' suggestion to deal with Lee at Stoltzfus RV (800)752-2988 in Adamstown, PA (right outside Reading) You'll have a very pleasant experience dealing with Lee. He is off on fridays. If you go make sure you tell him that Pam sent you.

We bought our Sunline 195SR from Butler RV. They have one for sale at a good price.

Boy that 2005 T299SR sure looks nice at Stultzfus.

Actually all of them look nice.

Don't let the distance be a show stopper within reason. Asking the dealer for a ton of digital pics to send you is an option.

We did and ours was over 500 miles away, one way.

Right now I would say they are hungy for a sale and taking a bunch of pic's to email does not cost much...

Good luck

John

The 286SR @ Stoltzfus isn't bad either...almost had that until Lee convinced me to go with the new one I wanted! I know they needed it gone at the time (last May), so I'm sure they really need it gone now.

I think you'll find if you limit yourself to the northeast, yes, there is more of a selection, but the prices seem to hold better where the reputation is than elsewhere. Take for example this brand new '06 286SR in SC:

http://www.rvtraderonline.com/find/l...LARIS-92833911

$16,900 isn't bad for that coach, but upon further investigation to their website reveals a different story (scroll about 1/3 the way down)

http://www.portersrvsales.com/TRAVEL%20TRAILORS.html

$15,800 is really a good deal for that coach with what it has. It was one I considered (it's about the same distance to NJ as it is to SC), but I didn't want it because it has the maple interior, not the cherry. But it does have more options, like the slide topper, hinged LP cover, etc.

Here's a few others:

- '07 257SR in Fitchburg, MA: http://www.rvtraderonline.com/find/l...257SR-93904368

- '06 289SR in Manassas, VA: http://www.rvtraderonline.com/find/l...289SR-82712608

- '07 264SR in Duncansville, PA:
http://www.rvtraderonline.com/find/l...264SR-93737710

- '06 286SR (it's advertised as a '05, but it's an '06) in New Castle, DE- http://www.rvtraderonline.com/find/l...286SR-93388584

195SR at Butler

I see they dropped the price on that 195SR at Butler from $17,654 to $10,995. I'm ready to take off work tomorrow to get it. Does that price seem great to anybody else but me? As Ray and Lynn know I love that camper, well Sue does too, and seeing that price I'm starting to get antsy. It looks to be in great shape. Any comments or persuasion to send me on my way would be appreciated.

44 units and counting at Buttonwood, unbelievable!!! Is it June yet??

Go for it!!!

I see absolutly nothing wrong with it. Make sure to check out all the appliances and see if they are willing to give you any kind of warranty.

They have had the coach for a little over a year now, so a lot of the warranties are probably expired now. But, since it's been sitting, they should give you an extended warranty (even if it's just 60 days, so you can try things out). Make sure they are willing to fix any appliance issue free of charge.

The price does sound very reasonable. But, don't go with the mentality that that price is the lowest they'll go. Go in thinking they'll sell it for $9000 and try to compromise in the middle. I've personally talked to Slim, and in my opinion, I was extremely unimpressed, so don't expect him to budge much, but it's worth a shot.

Also, if you can manage to do it, I would keep your 1950 and try to sell it outright. It's clear Butler isn't doing very good right now, since they're having to drop prices, so that means they would probably low ball any trade in value. Also, if you did try to factor in a trade, they would probably not deal at all. The cost difference would probably pay for storage for the winter if you had to do that. I don't know about PA, but the Craigslist in MI seems to be pretty good and if you price the coach right, it should sell quick. Even if it's priced at what the dealer would give you for it or slighly more, it would still work out for the better in the end if you can get a better deal on the 195.

There was a member on here who took a trip to see that 195 and hoped to buy it. At the time they were asking a lot more though, and as far as I know, that was the only downside. I don't know how much she is on here now, but I do have her e-mail and I can send her one for her opinion if you'd like.

Aside from everything else, it is a very unique coach since it's the prototype of the 195SR.

Good luck and let us know how it goes,
Jon

Ask for Scott if you go look at the 195SR. He dealt fairly with us. The prototype has really nice shades and bigger windows on the slideout sides plus a few other differences from ours. Jon is right, winter is coming and I'm sure they are anxious to move it. Keep us posted and Good Luck!!!

Thanks Jon for the pep talk and all the info. Having the prototype would be way to cool, plus my wife and I love the layout. If we got this we wouldn't have to visit Ray & Lynn so much at Buttonwood and tour theirs.

That's a good point about selling my 1950, they may not want to trade whatsoever or give me dirt for it. I talked to a dealer in Souderton, PA and they offered me $4000 for my 1999 1950 sight unseen. Too little or is that good?

I remember those people that traveled quite a distance for that trailer. I don't want to contact them for fear they may travel back to get it at a cheaper price.

This whole scenario really boils down to one thing. My 84 yr. old father. You are saying What???? My Explorer Sport Trac will not pull this camper.....V6. My Dad's Explorer Sport Trac will......V8. He has the towing package, I just would have to have the brake system put on his truck. Being 84 he is very cautious about me or any of his children using his belongings. Not that he doesn't want to help out but he just sits on the side of cautious. And I'm not going to hold that against him.

I don't want to purchase a new vehicle just to pull a camper I tow 6-8 times a year, even though many people do. So if Pop can help out on those times I'll take it and he can have my truck. My parents still come and visit us while we are camping and it has been a great time over the years. They are the ones that got me hooked on camping. It would be nice for them to come next Memorial Day and let it rain like hell and say let's go into the camper, we have much more room this year in the 1st 195SR ever made.

Hell, I'm starting to tell stories here, sorry. I'll let you know how it goes, and if I pursue this any farther. Thanks for all your help. Time to go call Dad.

For a trade in value, that doesn't sound too bad. The dealer where I got my 286 offered me $4900 for my '98 270SR sight unseen. Based on the NADA value, $4000 is pretty good. Was that Fretz that you talked to? They do have a good number of Sunline's in stock though.

Don't worry, they bought a new '08 Trail Cruiser shortly after that.

Jon, if you want to e-mail that couple then that is fine and much appreciated. If I remember right they said the unit was dirty, it doesn't look dirty to me in the pics.

Yes that dealer in Souderton was Fretz. Butler has really cut a lot of prices , and in a big way on their RV's. I plan on e-mailing them in the morning. Thanks to all for your help.

They actually went to look at two different 195SR's, another one was somewhere east of there, which I think has since sold. That was the one that was dirty. The one at Butler was clean.

You were correct Jon on the low ball, Butler offered me $2890 for my 1999 T-1950. I would rather try and sell it around here or on our site here instead of dragging it out there for that price.

IMO if they're selling that beautiful 195SR for $10,995 AND offering you $3500 for your 1950 they are giving it to you

Well, you "MIGHT" get more for your 1950 selling it yourself, BUT how long would you have to hold onto it before it would sell. Plus you have to deal with showing it, and then deal with idiots that set up an appointment to see it, you sit home an they never show, or they are nit-pickers about everything. I think I'd try to push Butler to 4K on your trade (you might get that or maybe they'd split the difference with you), or get them to throw in some extras that you might be wanting that you never bought, maybe a power tongue jack .
Trading it in on the new one will require less cash outlay, verses buying outright and waiting to sell yours. Depending on how your taxes work in your state, that might even save you some money.

Also, ANYTHING that you have on the 1950 that you can re-use or think you might use on YOUR 195SR don't let it go when you trade it in.

OH yeah, we'd also like to see better pictures than what they have on their website.

Just think of the trade as an early christmas present to each other.

IF it's the trailer you really really want, I'd say go for it, trade yours in, and be done with the deal and start enjoying that slide room. Have thanksgiving dinner in it

Good Luck, keep us posted.

All good points Kitty. In PA you do not pay sales tax on the trade in value. So, $3500 x .06 = $210 saved. So really he's getting $3710 value with the $3500 trade. I'd think it would sit a while with the camping season being effectively over in most peoples' minds.
