Greetings Sunline TC owner

Greetings all, my name is Matt and I own a Sunline C750 Truck Camper made in 1989 to fit the small S series and Ranger sized pickups. I am 3rd owner of the camper, the other owners of this TC were elderly and used the camper maybe once or twice each. The last owner had problems with stairs and couldn't climb in and out too well, so he decided to sell it to me, which worked for me as I have a 97 Ford Ranger Extended Cab Pickup Truck. The downfall is the 750 is designed for a 7.5 foot truck bed and my truck has a 6 foot bed. So I went the next step and just leave the tailgate down when the TC is on.

So don't be surprised if you venture off the beaten path and see my Truck and Camper on the side of a stream somewhere in New England. I am an avid fly fisherman and on the Board of Directors for the local Trout Unlimited Chapter for the Millers River in North Central Massachusetts. Other than that I am also hold an Amateur Radio Extra Class License and licensed as a Volunteer Examiner for the ARRL/VEC program to administer the FCC Amateur Radio License Exams.

Not one to leave without a question... are there any other Sunline Truck Camper owners out there or am I a lone breed?

Hey Matt,

Welcome to the club. You have a classic there and I think you may be the only member here with a Sunline Truck camper.

You'll have to post some pictures of it. We'ld love to see it.

Welcome from fellow subjects of Massachusetts! I'll keep an eye out for you, if you look for us!

I am in N/C Mass for work quite often, if you see a guy driving a big white foodservice truck waving at you, that's me (or the combo in the pic below)...

Thank you much, Kitty. I've seen Matt on RV.net as well. It's sad that the Truck Camper is what made Sunline what it is (was) today, and you don't hear of very many these days. Surprising when there were sometimes 2000 TC's built in some model years in the late '70's and early '80's.

Matt, Welcome! I do have some pretty clear pics of a '89 Runabout 750 if you'd like me to post them.

Hi Matt, welcome! I was a BIG RV.net reader/poster and then I found this site!!!!

I visit over on the "other side" but very rarely post anything anymore, as I find my dumb questions here, are answered "nicely"!

Makers Mark
Welcome Matt,
I am the former owner of a Sunline truck camper. I owned it over 25 years ago as a single, happy guy. I loved mine. You would find me along many beaches on the east coast of Florida and many bridges and inlets along the Keys. After fishing you may have found me in the "The Bull", Key West having a cold one. Now that I am married JL and I have a T2363. Did I say that I was still happy!
I do hope you check out the Meet and Greet @ Buttonwood this June. I would love to see your camper.
Regards,
MM

Welcome Matt

We don’ have to many Truck campers here yet, so it's great to have your addition to the club.

As we grow in club size, hopefully we can get at least 1 of most every model. Our list continues to grow.

Again Welcome and happy camping.

John

Thank you for the warm welcome. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I'll have some for the board.

The neat part about having the Truck Camper (TC) is that I can pretty much move into areas that trailers can't get in without problems. Of course that also means that I have to sacrifice space and keep things compact.

The saga of the TC's condition is rather good. Bought it used from my brother in law's grandparents who bought it from another elderly couple who bought it new. I think it's been camped in probably 5 to 7 times since it was built in 1989. The last owner spent every year recaulking the seams and recoating the roof, whether it needed it or not. So Interior wise, it's just like off the factory floor, except for the extra coathooks installed.

I've gone a couple steps further but also backwards with it. I installed a CO Detector, and had to replace the refridgerator with an Ice Box due to an ammonia leak. Would have gone with the fridge, but they wanted way more money that I had at the time and needed the Ice Box.

Future modifications include built in battery trays so the batteries stay with the TC, rod holders for the fly rods, some different storage / organizational items like a book / magazine rack, and either an awning off the rear or hooks for a tarp and poles to give me a dry spot outside to take the waders off, along with a mount to hang my coleman lantern off the side of the truck for outdoor lighting in the woods.

Talk to you soon and probably post some stuff in the Truck Camper section when I get a chance.

Sportsman Matt

In the meantime, for anyone who'd like to see what his coach looks like, here's a link to what I have:

I may have spotted Matt this week.....

If he was near the side of a ski area in Gilford, New Hampshire, he has been spotted....I wish I had time to stop, but the work truck has GPS and I have a boss on a power trip....

If it was you Matt, that sure is a clean looking camper!

Truck Campers Rock!!

The 1989 I just bought (C1150 sunline) looks like new as well. The guy that had it before me used it once in the last 6 years and it doesnt look like it was used much before he got it.
It is so new to me I haven't really gone thru it but I am told everything works. I am suprised that it appears you have to be hooked up to 115 volt or the truck pigtail if you want to have power. There will be plenty of times when neither is going to be available and I have put out some feelers to see what people have done. I don't want to listen to a generator and it looks like the roof could hold some PV panels so I am hoping someone has a system developed for RV's. If so please let me know.
As far as fishing goes , thats my big decision for the day, which fishing hole do I hit today!!! I am newly disabled and find that fishing is just what the doctor ordered, so I go every day. I live in Vermont so we don't lack for nice trout streams and I live a block off from 6th Great lake, Lake Champlain !! I am a worm and hook kind of guy though. If I could figure out how to post a pic I would upload some! Maybe I will be able tomorow as I am going to stay at a holiday inn express tonight!
Take care, drive safe

Hey Matt; Don't know if you are still around. However I just bought a 1989 C-750. Don't know too much about it, but I am learning. It's a neat little rig. I need to escape to a warmer place in winter. Be safe.
