Sliding Dining Table Falls Off!
My T-1950 is finally in the shop Campers Choice
But before I took it in, the last of the casters on the sliding dining table fell out of the rail.
Quite frankly I think its design flaw, good idea but poor execution. I know others have experienced this and wondering what your solutions were?
I am thinking that if it falls off because of poor design, if its fixed, the casters put back in the rail isn't it just going to keep falling off (the repair shop owners tends to agree)? And I should look around for another folding table
I was thinking maybe putting regular hinges on it and screwing the other end to the wood above the rail that the table casters go in now however then it would not be movable?
If there IS a workable solution that someone has come up with, I would like to communicate that while it's in for repair and get that fixed
THANKS!

As I recall, Sunline Fan mentioned in another recent thread that sometimes the rail bends a bit and opens allowing the sliders to jump out of the track. I will have to look for his fix.

That was my other thought but forgot to note! The table itself is sturdy and the leaf adds more table space which I like. Can folding legs be purchased or do they have to be made?
However, I did find this portable table that got good ratings 4-Foot Portable Lightweight Buffet Folding Table - Walmart.com

I believe your problem lies in that sliding table open and close to put the leaf in puts allot of strain on rail and bending it. Is there a reason you can't permanently fasten table to wall? That way you would still have the leaf option.

That was one of the options I mentioned.
But I am not sure it could be fastened to the wall, that would make the leg too short to hit the floor. I was thinking the piece of wood directly above the rail.
However it would be stationary then which would be ok but I would need to make sure that wherever it was fastened was where I wanted it to be permanently.

Those are nice but its just one set and I need two which makes them $84 and unfortunately that is more than the little folding table at WalMart

Sorry for the delay, it was late and I was lazy
Here is a thread about the table being loose in the rail , don't know it that will help.
http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...pen-15466.html
The last post was by Sunline Fan mentioning pinching the rail together.

Had the problem in my T1950, removed the track and squeezed it with some widejaw visegrips, carefully and trying to keep the track straight, and all has been well for the last year. It has not loosened up or fallen out since.

They are sold by the set - I understand that to mean two legs....

Ohhhhh well duh!
I like this solution! The table is sturdy and so are those legs, however...
Do you think that the folding legs could be attached so that the table could be used with and without the leaf?? Or would that make the legs too close when used without the leaf so it would be hard to get your legs under the table let alone a guest?

It looks like the previous owner tried that however I think the problem is being magnified by using the leaf which I love!
In order for the leaf to go in, you have to pull out the lever under the table while at the same time pulling out the table. It's the pulling that puts more strain on the casters in the rail. The leaf itself goes in really tight
Do you ever use the leaf?

Joan,
Do you travel with the table up or down?
We had a sliding table like that on your T2499 and we always towed with it folded down. We did use the leaf all the time.
I agree, with the leaf in you have to be carefull to not put a lot of side pressure on the table as it can futher spring open the track.
We did not have any issues with the table coming out, but I can see the track being spring open with frequent shifting of the table. A lot of leverage on the track.
A thought, take the table out of the track, get the track bent back into the correct shape, put the table back on, travel with the leaf out and table down and secured down. Ours had a strap to hold it from bouncing around. It is tears out again, then go to Plan B
Hope this helps
John

Hi John,
I always travel with the table down and never with the leaf in it. I push it close the couch and had some pillows and my little fireplace heater against and around it to keep it secure and from any moving. However, I never used a strap or bungee cord and that is a better idea.
The Meet and Greet was the first time I learned to use the leaf because it was so tight Jim had to do some bending to get it to work. I think that is another part of the problem, the leaf on mine goes in so tight.
I can have John of Camper's Choice fix it while its there and have a table just in case. Since I intend to live in Miss Sunny awhile I definitely want a table that I can depend on.
Thanks!
