Just had my 2007 T-1950 Dometic (recall) refer completed yesterday at my local rv dealer. It took approximately one half hour to complete the job.
If you have a newer Dometic refer, most likely yours is on the list.

I just checked my 2553. It's affected, so I guess I'll have to contact Stoltzfus on Monday morning. I've been using it for a year with no problems: Ingorance is bliss.
Jon, what is involved other than the additional sheet metal? I see two red wires that don't appear on the "before" picture.
Pam, thanks for the recall update link.

The refrigerator on our 2007 T-2499 is on the updated recall list. Thanks for the heads-up. Made an appointment for May 30. Dealer just said not to use the refrig on propane but electric is OK until then. Going out this weekend.

Ours is also on the recall list. While checking for the recall, I found out that what dometic is doing isn't a fix for the real problem. The parts they add on are just to hopefully stop it from catching on fire when the system does fail. There are a number of things that have to happen at the same time for it to catch on fire. The odds are very small for a fire to happen, but they have to cover their butts.

Mike & Roz:
Can you elaborate? What circumstances cause the fridge to catch fire? Maybe we could circumvent the problem by not allowing those things to happen simultaneously.
On the surface, this fridge doesn't look much different from the older models which have never been recalled. What makes this design more dangerous? Could we retrofit parts from the older design to make our newer units safer?

http://rx4rv.com/archives/21 The problem comes from dometic using a higher wattage electric heater on some units and bad welds on the burner tube. The burner tube gets to hot and cracks the welded area, releasing the gases in the system. The electric element is what causes the problem, but the leaking gases combined with the gas burner is what causes a fire.

Dometic refrigerator recall
It can catch fire and does happen. My neighbor was returning from a camping trip with his trailer in tow(not a Sunline). He happened to glance in his side mirror and noticed smoke coming from the side of his trailer. He pulled over and was able to extinguish the fire, but not until it did $13,000 damage to the TT. Insurance co. did not total the trailer and it is being repaired. Something to be said about having your fridge on while travelling down the road. I know I do and most people I know do also.

Took it in for repair this am, Mechanic didn't believe mine was involved when he originally saw the serial number. He ran it through the computer to "show me mine wasn't involved" , after he picked himself off the floor he called Dometic and was told if it was Dometic of any age to check it against the database. This is a dealer with approximately 100 new and used units in stock, so to be told they need to check all Dometic Refrigerators was quite a shock. Took them about a half an hour to fix, once they got over the shock. Yes, it is costing them big time

Called Camping World, have appointment to get the "fix" June 11th at 10 am.
The girl that made the appointment was surprised that I was affected since my rig is titled as an "06"

Yep Kitty, seems the word of the extension of the recall is just starting to trickle down to the "working stiffs". The mechanic that fixed mine yesterday had actually written "No Repair Required" on the work order, and had to print a new work order after he ran my info through the computer and finding my '07 was included.
Lesson learned: check your info through the website yourself and know that it is included before you talk to the repair shop, they might not be aware of the extension.

Just got back about 45 mins ago from getting mine done. The tech that performed the work commented that it looked like it was already done, except for the metal plates that surround the whole thing. Upon further inspection, it did have one of the sensors, but he added another and the plates. The one sensor that was there he said did look like it came from the factory that way.
So if the tech says it doesn't need it, make him double check the numbers.

I wonder if they had a "Fix" on the newer ones, that turned out not to be a good enough "fix" and had to add them to the recall.

Took Sunny in on June 11th to my local Camping World for the recall. They were not sure that my serial # was in the recall, so they called Dometic to be told "YES" I was also affected. Apparently they were not aware of the additional units involved.
But, anyway, it's fixed and took about 30 minutes. Took me longer to drive there.

Got the recall notice
It was waiting in the mail when we got home from a boat trip yesterday. TT is going to be fixed tomorrow. We need it for a trip to NY July 17 to get the new puppy so we're delighted it will be done so quickly.

Thanks to being told about the expanded recall at the PA Meet and Greet, I again checked out the ref. in our 2007 T-2363. This time, we got the brass ring! Thanks to the good folks at Highland Orchards RV it was fixed 4 hours after I called them this morning!
Now we are all set to go to a family wedding on Friday.

Wooopps- forgot to check the numbers until the new Trailer Life came out, now they're going all the way back to June of 2003.... so our 2380 is getting new parts too.
Wish I had remembered before our trip (no fire though) to Ohio that we just got back from. What an epic adventure! Stories and photos as time allows, I haven't even been able to get on the forums here for a while....
MacDonald's RV in Plainville will fix ours under the warranty without a problem- they weren't notified by Dometic, and they're a stocking Dometic dealer! I also filled out my warranty cards, and they didn't notify us in any way.... grumble, grumble, grumble......
