HELP ~ RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER

We are proud new owners of Sunline 5th and US Customs say we need a Recall Clearance Letter to bring home to Canada. Please help us locate anyone who can write this for us.

Wow, talk about your political red tape. How do you get a recall clearance letter from a defunct company. Documentation could be found on this site that proves company disolved at auction. Have no idea if that would help. Are there any legal eagles here that would know?? Not sure why US customs would care if it was going home to Canada?

Cheree,

I was asked to take a look at your posting. I'm a US citizen and we own property in Canada where we park our Sunline for 6 months at a time. They simply "log us in" on a form (no charge) and after 6 months, we take ourSunline back over the border into the US. We could pay the Canadian taxes on it and leave it their permanently on our property, but choose not to.

What I did do was to contact my Canadian Border Crossing and explained your situation. She did have a few questions as to where your permanent residency was, etc. as there are varied rules for varied situations. Either way, I did explain Sunline Co. was defunct and she recommended you contact their Border Agency that maybe off assistance to you. The toll free number in the US or Canada is: 888-848-8240 They also have a web site, it is: www.cbsa.gc.ca

They should be able to assit you.
Good luck!
Eric

Thank You Kindly!

Wow! Did we pick the right make of RV or what?! I sure do appreciate all your help and input. We are in Manitoba (5mins. from ND border) and frequently cross over. We tried 3 different border crossings and no one at any of them could/would offer any assistance. I'm printing off these responses and taking them down to see if that 'jars' anything. We look forward to seeing other Sunlines on our journeys when we finally get this 'stuff' figured out. Again, thnx for your input!!

Recall For

Hello Cheree

DW and I did this in Dec 2006. The recall clearance has to come from the Manufacture. It can not in our case as they have closed. What you need to do is just send them proof that the Sunline CO. has closed and there for there will be no recall possible. Good luck and I hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours
Ted
