The new drawer
OK, I got it built and it WORKS !!! It's not near as neat as what JohnB would create, but I don't have the shop or tools that he does but it's an OK girlie project
This is a board:

2 more boards:

Yet another board:

AAARG, a stripped screw

Everything is glued & screwed

The 5th piece of wood, the front

The drawer glides go on

YEAH, it fits

Told you it worked

AAH, more storage space
Now, what is next ? Replace the solid panel where the clock is, create a hinged cabinet door for a flat panel TV ????? I'm not sure, but I'll be tinkering around,
KItty

Nice job, Kitty. That's a really good use of that space. If we'd had a choice, we would have deleted the oven too. We've used it once and that was me baking muffins (from a mix) just to try it out. Karen thought it was unnecessary to do even that. She doesn't get along well with open flames and is usually defeated by child proof lighters--she also doesn't read this stuff But that oven is a pain to light and pointless to keep the pilot light on.
Say, Kitty, I couldn't help but notice the dishes on the counter and in the sink. Been doing some winter camping? or are you planning a major spring cleanup? :P

Well Henry,
Thanks you for the nice compliment about the drawer. Now I have to admit the dishes you see in the sink were from breakfast in the house not in the Sunline.
I came in from work at about 8:45, grabbed a bowl of oatmeal and a bowl of fruit, and had the urge to build that drawer, so I got right to it.
My work bench was my kitchen countertop in the house, I even had the candle on the warmer for a nice aroma
I need to get some power out to my 12 x 20 shed, so I can "create" things out there. Maybe JohnB has spare tools he would "donate" to me. I think I know just enuff about tools to be dangerous.
More mods to follow later, I'm sure ,
Kitty

Kitty:
You have done some remarkable mods with the tools at your disposal. With a few bench top machines in a 12 X 20 shop, you could create just about anything for your Sunny or your house. Your might want to check with your school district to see if they (or the Vo-Tech) offer evening classes for adults: They will teach you how to safely use any tool you ever want to buy.

Go Kitty Go.
You done real good. We are proud of you .
The tools, it is more so how to make something from nothing with almost nothing. The tools do help, but it is the operator that makes them work. From what we see here, your collection of existing tools has not slowed you down or hindered your outstanding work in any way.
My pile of stuff is a collection that some of it now is on it’s 3rd generation. Some my fathers, some my uncles, many my own and some now passing on to my son for a 4th generation. Coming from a farming background we never had funds to hire things out to be done. We justified the tool to do the task, and the rest came from the family of helper bees. This also allowed one to learn how to do most things and then being creative did the rest. And over the years the tool pile grew. I still do not have the wood shop many wood workers do, but use what I have to make it work for what I need it to do, just like you do.
So if you can create what we have seen you do with what you have now, what could Santa bring that could expand your manufacturing abilities?
Keep those mod’s a coming.
John

Kitty, you've already demonstrated you have enough tools to build a Sunny from the ground up (including the frame- which is more than Sunline themselves could say they did), what more would you need wink:!

Wow Kitty, do you think I could take some construction lessons from you
Just to let others know, others like me who could never make drawers like this, Cindy and I are looking to have some Custom Drawers made for our new project we're working on, and doing a Google Search, I found this place.
http://www.udb.cc/CustomDrawerQuoteForm.aspx
Custom drawers with your choice of wood, Dovetailed or just glued and screwed, and delivered to your home within a few days of ordering.
I havent used them yet, but this is who we'll probably go with when we do need to order the drawers we're looking for.
