John - Great stuff, but doesn't it raise a red flag for you that the brake controller is lit? Presumably without the trailer attached...

Ted, if the lights on the controller are lit without a trailer attached, I'd say there is a wiring problem, and this could be the cause of your battery drain. Should be easy enough to pull the fuse...
